Think there may be repercussions from this to stop such enthusiastic driving on recce open roads, from the photos it looked like Ogier cut a left hand bend on the wrong side of the road. I assume police will have the footage etc so if there is any blame then he could be in big big trouble. I’m sure we will hear more.

    That’s hard to hear

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ogier says now that he is done for this season

I believe recce speed limits are now controlled and enforced by GPS in the recce cars.

That said fixed speed limits are obviously not as safe everywhere.

With just driving he finished ahead of Katsuta and Munster.. + (whiny) Neuville couldn't catch him.
Yes, careful. Sesks is a former winner of Rally Poland so he shall be fast there but he is also a driver who can't get to top ten on some other ERC events.

    Anyway time will tell.

That's true. He's super fast on rallies like Poland and Latvia, but he's not that fast on tarmac. Some examples:

But it's still a pleasure to watch him, both in action and in interviews. He has such a positive personality, that he almost doesn't fit in modern WRC!

Pls point to modern times, e.g, past 30-40 years, young and promising driver who would be competitive on both surfaces immediately out of the block. As I said earlier - you can not learn natural speed - either it is there or not. His speed this weekend was great - you can not learn it by having driven those roads before. I hope his very smart team are aware of his shortages on tarmac. That is coachable.

He drove his first ERC event 8 years ago and since that time he did dozens of international rallies. He's not a rookie without a history like Chatillon.

Yes, at least not injuries requiring hospitalization. Autopsy will examine if death has relation to crash with Ogier.

According to sportowefakty, Ogier was driving ~50km/h when crash happened.
