Judging by Toyota's performance so far I'm betting on them winning the manu title. Arguably the strongest team, permanent drivers and a car that's as good as, if not better, than the Fiesta. M Sport is betting on temporary Suninen for car no. 3 and Hyundai's drivers are super unreliable. Citroen needs no explanation.

Back to Mikkelsen alternator issue, anyone dare to speculate how a belt brakes and/or came off? Does anyone remember if such a thing happened before?

I think its pretty tough to judge too much by Monte Carlo, there is just too much random circumstance.
Anyone could have been off and out on the first night on that ice, really just good fortune who got away with the least time loss.
Its clear the Ford is still pretty benign, so too the Hyundai and Toyota. The Citroen still looks a right handful when the traction is low. So far Meeke has been smart and we didn't say that much last year.

Loosely tightened or faulty.

Belts break either from wear... which isn't the case in the WRC because I bet they swap them every event... or misalignment between the pulleys which increase the wear exponentially.
I don't know how things are mounted in the hyundai and what adjustment they have so don't know the root cause if it was indeed the belt.
They weigh nothing so I'm surprised they don't have a spare in the car.
