I recently think about this a lot. In a case there will be more Main cars on events, I'm talking about 10 to 20 cars or more. Is it possible that how RallyTV coverage could be presented? I was thinking about there would be few cameras (3, 4 or 5 max) on some spots on every stage. And those cameras would record live all the time during race. And fans could click on that camera point on interactive map and watch as they was there every car they want. Of course it could be equipped also with gps so you would not miss favorite drivers pass those points. Of course every corner wouldn't be covered so people would just not stop go the stages completely and instead watch that on their couches. I think it could be a great addition. Way cheaper and easier to broadcast as it would fixed coverage. I don't say it could completely take out onboards, but it could replace unexisted road side cameras. It could offer again something new and maybe bring closer event to fans who don't have a chance attending some specific events live. Also it could justify that big price of RallyTV.

Have you ever watched anything like this? I have and I didn't like it. In Estonia, there are some rallies where they try to do all-live but homemade, so they have those fixed cameras and this is boring to be honest. You like wait 1.5 minutes for a driver, it passes the place in 10 seconds and then you wait again. It is better than nothing but compared to all live, this is huge step back.

I think for the coverage, it doesn't change much. There are still 10-15 top drivers, who would do the best times and they are showing those. If it is not getting a lot better (rain stops or massive cleaning effect), those 10-15 drivers will have the best time and it will be enough to show just those.

I think what will change is that we won't see WRC2 (or whatever the series is called) drivers anymore in the coming years as there will be many WRC27 cars. And this part is sad as it is cool to see upcoming talents, how they drive and give interviews.

So sitting few hours live on stage on some corner is boring? It could be addition with 5 cameras on some sectors of stage, and you could click on any of these cameras any time you wanted with intercative map besides. We kinda have this all around our country on some roads and it's live 24/7 on traffic-info site (to check out jams, weather...). So it could be done. I said it could be done with, I don't know 5 cameras across stage (not necessary on the most famous, interesting sectors), so it won't ruin live experience and wouldn't drive out people attenting events, if there would be covered 20+ of those cameras. Maybe it could drive out also this onoards, don't know, as it seems are pretty much more boring as it was rally radio + 3 stages covered live with professional cameras and recording. Now we have onboards, laggy coverage and usually don't show incidents and important stuff, as it is strictly planned what to show and when (and not what was when it first came out, when we had option to switch to any crew you want at any stage during racing). Probably they started to save on money to successfully put it more in their pockets as it's usually (unrecognized) cause of service becoming worse through years - I think RB and KW25 wanted to present to ''potentially new promoter'' profits to sell the business easier. Back to my suggestion. I think this thing could be well done with command center (all necessary info about competitors, tyres, real time data from cars, times, comments, incidents and so on). Also maybe they could integrate also chat, so the fans could talk to each other during action.

I honestly think that WRC+ when it came out was brilliant with switching crews and I think that back then there was more or less road side cameras too, so it was actually upgrade to what we had before with rally radio, except that radio got EYES. But then they completely ruined and it sadly take out this action and engagement element. Maybe new promoter will upgrade it and it could be better, but we will see.

But with my suggestion you could jump from one place to new any time you wanted, still doing many things around and not miss so much action, when you are not looking at all.

On the Tour de France 2026 there was a multi-screen option on the HBO Max app with 4 live screens and extra live info.

Something like this would be great on RallyTV plus a choice of onboard for your favourite driver or favourite stage camera.

To be honest, for me they are not comparable at all. For me, going to rallies is like climbing a mountain. You prepare where to go, pack your stuff, drive to the stage with friends, find the best spot there and when the Rally1 car passes, you have reached the summit. Plus, you simply can’t experience the raw speed and power of a Rally1 car through a TV screen. It’s like going to a really fast corner, filming it, and then showing the video to your friends. They might say "Yeah, that’s pretty cool,” but it’s nothing compared to actually standing there.

Which incidents they haven't shown? Ogier's was all live and we all saw what happened. Okay, they cut the stream quite quickly but it was totally understandable.

But I agree that WRC+ could be much better. There is so much data they could provide to improve the TV coverage. I would love to see tire information, I remember when TV coverage had a feature where they compared different cars through different sections of the stage and where one driver gained and lost, and the option to watch a full-stage live onboard of any driver. And I don't know why they don't show the evening top3 interview, which is is usually so much fun.

To be fair it is a tricky balance for RallyTV in what the should provide. Are they there mainly for the hardcore fans or the more casual viewers ?

This is why interactive multi-screen and extra info needs to be provided so you can watch or use as much detail as you want. You could decide just what is important to you and the effect and enjoyment you prefer, ie. mainly stagr side action, or heli shots, or onboards or the telemetry. The best you can do now is the info overlay and choosing the pure sound over commentary.

very wrong, there's a lot of cost in airing the show, if you do 2 hours instead of 1, u basically pay double. setting up the camera is not the big deal. the deal is working it.

Paying them people and the infrastructure for the stream. people don't work for free just because they're already there. And -just an example - they use an airplane to bounce the signal, which costs per minute, as do the helicopters.

Because the live cameras inside the cars have no microphone, they get the sound from the intercom when possible (with dedicated a cable)
