WRC Rally Italia Sardegna 2026

Yet he is the only non-toyota to win this year.
I think he is trying too hard, taking too much risks.
True, but Fourmaux is beating him to consistently. He is a great driver, but his performance in the last two seasons was decent, but it was hardly the level we would expect from him.

Thierry either doesn't get the feeling at all for the whole weekend and cruises in 4th-5th... or he actually has a good pace but big risk of crashing.

And I don't believe it comes from pushing too much. I think he can't deal with certain sudden oversteer/understeer surprises that this car gives, like in Croatia. The car is probably just not compatible with the set up that Thierry would like.

On a positive note, it's the last time he'll need to drive it.

It's the same car (barring the HY unit), he won the championship with 2 years ago. All while he's the main developing driver. There is no way he can't set up the car to his liking after all this time.
Removing the hybrid unit is a big change in balance. Hankook tyres play a big part in it too.
Does it look like Tanak in 2025 was the same as Tanak in 2024? He hated the 2025 car with passion.
There's no setting up the car right, because the car isn't right, as shown by every driver who drove both versions. Neuville worse, Tanak worse, Lappi worse, Sordo worse.

The Toyota is the only properly developed post-hybrid-car out there. Even their drivers would struggle in the Hyundai / Ford

If punctures happen mostly to same guys a lot.. Ogier and Fourmaux.. etc
Maybe adapt their driving to it..

Lucky Evans :D

I wonder if their punctures are literally that, the tyres being burst, or are more actually getting knocked off the rims.

Oliver just gets bad news at stage end interview...
More good news for Evans. Fourmaux won't be far behind for tomorrow, though.

Fourmaux pushed to the end, Evans did not. Hence the diff between them is just 4,7s now. Evans got a fight in his hands.
