WRC mainclass from 2027

Funny, but when it comes to WRC, they demanded electric to be able to commit by previous era and now when ICE again take over, they again was so against it and gave that exactly reasonw why arw they still undecided. And now are they fully supportive of ice and still don't commit. Are they even know what they want or are doing?
 
IMO it's all just excuses as they're looking for a 'return on investment'.

To Hyundai this means the chances of beating Toyota, which just isnt going to happen.
 
Even funnier if that was the case they wouldn't be here for 14-15 years already, because seriously did even work during that time they were here.

Also what do they think that they will be better in WEC as there is much more competition an again Toyota, which do very good there.

You won't see many EV jeeps or EV super-cars since those owners wants the oompf. That's also the audience you want and the car's you want for rally.

Since it's no wonder there are problems when we are driving around with family cars.

When I see a standard Puma / I20 / Yaris I chuckle when thinking that this is the base of a rally car
 
EVs have plenty of oompf. Never see any struggling pulling out a junction. Probably why roads are getting more dangerous.

Jeeps and their audience are terrible for rally. They belong in off-roading whereas rallying is a road sport.

I did wonder if I had misunderstood that. EVs pull way better than ICE cars. Rallying is all about torque and EVs have tonnes of it.
 
Sound is part of the oompf ^^ Ariving silent does not stroke the ego of those buyers.

According to the internet, ev supercars did not sell well
 
You can look at Goodwood festival from recent years, and see normal ICE cars are so much better in everything. EV just doesn't create the same great feel. It's the same when you are there on scene. You can only heard tyres and some stones being thrown around. It's weird. I really don't like ot and completely screw up the whole experience, no matter how fast does it look.

I don't like it either, but it's an age thing. I much prefer the induction growl of a normally aspirated engine to the popping, whistling & banging of a turbo but a generation younger than me usually feels the opposite. How many tuned road cars do you hear these days that are set up to pop between gearshifts? When I was building engines I'd have been back to the rolling road to get it set up properly if any of mine did that. Send a generation of folk out to watch EV motorsport and after a few years they won't be able to cope with the noise of ICE cars.

I think there is a fairly clear direction of travel in recent years. Motorsport keeping ICE on sustainable fuels and road transport going electric.
 
It's not just the sound of ICE cars it's the whole interaction, especially with a manual 'box.

No matter how fast an EV is, I prefer my old 5-cylinder turbo. The EVs and even some DSG petrol cars are very quick, but totally soulless. They're effortless too and give you no satisfaction. The only enjoyment comes from going too fast for a public road.
 
I see no reason for ICE going away in motorsport, only maybe at some point its road relevance - which, to be honest, is nearly 0 anyway. It's all brand awareness now.

Seeing it the same as some sports equipment, for example chess. There is online chess and still people watch and enjoy it offline when two masters sit on the same table

but to do any decent amount of km's they need a battery pack that is so heavy it takes most of the speed away.

but the main issue with EV's is that noboby wants to watch them. They sound boring and therefore they look slow, even when they're not. And if spectators don't come to watch, sponsors make no money and go away. And if sponsors leave, only old very rich people can still afford to do rallying.

That's where the FIA has been going wrong all the time. You don't need to care about manufacturers, you need to attract viewers. Viewers attracks sponsors and manufacturers, not the other way around.
 
Alternatively: Where are the RallyX EV cars, the Extreme E cars and so a smaller extend the Formula E cars. Forgotten or in a very small niche
 
Just been watching some WR2C, maybe WRC should rename the new Rally1 and Rally2 to Ultimate and Stock Production?
 
i read that WRC needs manufacturer money to be run, because its more difficult and expensive than an ERC round, which relies on local government, entry fees and smaller sponsors money.
that makes sense.... but if only toyota is interested in compete, is there enough money?
