Did you happen to hear, where in Australia?I've heard some rumblings that the new promoter is speaking with Rally Australia... 2028/9 test event and then in the calendar 2029/30.

I laughed so hard, with the lot of them flying in front of the camera! "Shhhh, don't let anyone know we have tons of fucking annoying bugs""There are no midges"
Ok.
lol they are including lancia in the rally1 class already.Croatia is one of 11 rounds on the Wikipedia 2027 contract tracker: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:2027_World_Rally_Championship
And not showing Rallye Monte-Carlo as part of the calendar lol (not funny).lol they are including lancia in the rally1 class already.
No hate too but I've already made one I'd like for them to do: the one mentioned above.I know this is mere fantasy at this point but if they could do something like this for next year, I wish they would go:
(Sardegna Still)
(Corsica)
(Scotland) that would be much nicer than what they have in store.
With few some exceptions (Croatia out for a classic Catalunya, Australia out for NZ), I'd love to agree for such a calendar.No hate too but I've already made one I'd like for them to do: the one mentioned above.
I agree with you, regarding Catalunya, it's just I was trying to be fair to the current contract of Croatia. And you'd also think with Germany still being a relatively big car market they'd try to push there but from what I understand, the economy there isn't strong enough to hold an event there and ADAC who had the reins for 17 years also has run dry from money.With few some exceptions (Croatia out for a classic Catalunya, Australia out for NZ), I'd love to agree for such a calendar.
But, as I said, commercially speaking it's very poor. Rallies like Corsica, Sardinia, Croatia couldn't bring things like: market penetration, ancillary revenues (hospitality, luxury fan experiences, big brands, value for manufacturers, etc).
Let me elaborate with a few examples:
- Greece is a small market, but they are able to set up a high-budget (EKO is the storefront brand of Helleniq Petroleum, which recently signed a MoU with Chevron to explore gas and oil on the Mediterranean sea) rally infrastructure for the event;
- Sardinia is part of Italy, a very important car market in Europe, but can't bring huge amount of fans and, due to the fact the event is in an island, is unattractive on a sponsorship point of view;
- Corsica has a whole population of 300k people, while most of the French people can afford to go more easily to a rally like Monte Carlo.
These aspects will be highly considerated and listening to Eric Bouiller, they will base their decisions and contracts based on that. Which makes totally sense for a commercial promoter. For that reason I can't feel it's fair to blame them for pushing USA or Chinese markets first.
