Silly Season 2027

Those guys was once happy to drive too, gave positive comments and didn't whine all the time. It seems that the sport do that to them, when there is pressure to win. History tells us it was alaways like that. Guys completely lost it, swearing, angry, whine, kicking everything, spit on everyone... Even Mads Ostberg eventually became like that.

But Ott and Kalle have already left the sport, with World Titles and Rally1 contracts
Seb has been skiping 3 to 5 rallies for a while already.
Its probably not only about the cars. I agree with Kalle, the "events" are a pain for everybody, but cmoon. I work 6 days a week in this crappy job for 300 euros/month (Converting). Life is hard for everybody haha
 
That's a bit of the point. It's the old guys constantly complaining. The new guys are doing mostly very much fine (Solberg, Armstrong, Pajari for a Finn).

But I really can't hear Evans anymore complain about xy or downplaying his effort after winning a stage. Or one of the most dreadful: Tanak.

They also get sometimes rude to the reporter, which is completely unjustified

(Sorry for derailing the discussion, I want to see some new and motivated guys at least if the cars are boring)
 
We complain for a very big numbers of reasons FIA gave them. And I believe drivers, teams, personel, organizators and everyone involved in this championship is currently frustrated. Announcement of new promoter deal kinda make it a little better, but still we don't know nothing, still nothing is certain and still seems very unsure that everything proposed will work.

Well, the new rules are making cars way slower and nobody likes that! It was the same in F1, when they introduced the new rules and I think Max Verstappen started to complain about upcoming 2026 rules already in 2023. Everybody else were like lets see and wait etc but now we see that they are bad. Even F1 knows they are bad so they are adjusting the power ratio for next year and soon this aggressive hybrid will be replaced with v8 and some simpler energy recovery system. What I want to say that drivers are our voice. They also want fast and spectacular cars. And they won't complain as much as you think. We saw already in Finland that Suninen couldn't say anything bad about Hankooks as he was forced to be silent. It will be same for the rules. Remember, we have MBS ruling our sport.
 
F1 isn't in the similar situation by million years away. WRC is fragile and could collapse any moment and drastic measuers needs to be done to save it. As soon as there would be enough manufacturers actually racing, the tuner aspect and that "various body shapes" will be restricted. And also performance will be increased as, brands do want that too.

I'm just not sure that this - numbers of manufacturers will ever happen.
 
F1 cars still look good & are fast. They are just not that fast in certain situations (when they have no battery / are loading the battery). Their only fault is that they are horrible to drive as it seems, but most fans don't care about this
 
I´m sure next year will be as exciting as always, no matter what cars will be driven.
The most important is competition and sound...
Don´t think average Joe cares.

No, they are not horrible to drive. As we got rid off ground effect, there is no porpoising, suspension is softer and car is generally more predictable. Ground effect had a non-linear aerodynamic stall and at high speeds, it had a "knife-edge" handling characteristics. Now it is way more predictable and as cars are also lighter, it means they are more nimble.

What got worse is that drivers are harvesting at different places. Meaning if you have 340 km/h speed and driver in front of you starts to harvest half a second sooner, the closing speed is massive. The same harvesting means that awesome corners are now just corners. Maggots Becketts in Silverstone, Pouhon at Spa and many more. In that sense it is worse and not enjoyable for drivers. But handling itself has not been the issue in this year's rules.

IMO there is even more disgust amongst the fans as in WRC. FIA is hiding speed graphics in certain places not to show how much the car is losing speed ON the straight because it is harvesting energy for the next straight. This is embarrassing.
 
I posted on the other topic but it fits here too: Since Msport got what they wanted (the Kit thing), one can only hope they bring to the events at least the same number of cars as Gazoo...

About F1, whatever... DRS killed it for me. Whats the point of giving the faster car (thats coming from behind BECAUSE IT IS FASTER, otherwise it would not get to "less than a second") an advantage? Let the guy in front fight, ffs. Even with DRS we dont see a slower car passing a faster car, it just drops several Seconds behind it.

But the sound is one of the big problems, the Toyota sounds horrible and since we have a Toyota spec series now, let's be honest, that's all the sound we are getting

It's like choosing to have rally's road order conundrum.
 
Jon Armstrong said on SPIN the Rally Pod that he's thinks he's shown decent speed on his Rally1 debut year, albeit with some big mistakes.

He also thinks he needs a strong end to the season to give him the best chance of a WRC27 seat.

Romet Jürgenson has big experience in the Fiesta Rally2 (& WRC2) so Jon implied he may be the choice for another M-Sport seat. The boss MW likes him too.

McErlean will have had 2 seasons in Rally1 and the MI Rally Academy may not fund him again at the top level.
 
mcerlean has been doing better than jon but i think jon's personality will guarantee him that seat (if just one of the irish gotta be released). damn if we were going full R5s for next years, guys like jon, sesks would really have a chance of victories. they are good in those cars.

Only in Junior 1000 from what i can see, 3rd in BRC 2019

McErlean has been more consistent lately but that's after a really poor start to the year.

Funding is up to the MI Rally Academy and they might think he hasnt shown enough good pace, unlike Armstrong who has at times, even in his Rally1 debut year.

Jon's 3 rally wins in his last 3 Rally2 drives may also play in his favour.
