Ott Tänak - Future champion?

in an interview he said 'never say never but so far, no plans for next year' (the reporter asked about toyota)
 
If Tänak goes back to competition mode.. and the new generation promises (mainly Virves, Jürgenson, Vaher, but why not Enok, Volver, and Nõgene) will do proper action as well.. this could be quite a huge success story for a small country.

From what he says, no. But I can imagine a scenario where Ogier has no chance of becoming world champion this year, so he would gladly skip Saudi.
 
Oh man that is super interesting. Makes you think what’s the reason for this.

Fingers crossed we see him this year. I can imagine his relief how this car behaves compared to Hyundai :D

Theoretically Ogier shouldn't even take part to the South American rounds, according to what he said about his program. Of course he will, if he's in the fight for the title.
 
No way he is sitting at home and not driving next year..
Guy is in the car more than work drivers 😄

If that was first try, then I would imagine the smile at the end 😊

Ok, developing a new car for the future was so far how it was served.

Now, a zero-car with Toyota Rally2 for the future rally - that makes you already wonder that there is a clear long-term agreement between Toyota and Tänak.

And on top of that - testing a current Rally1 car - what is the rationale for that? Tänak just wishes to drive on test tracks and make the best car (setup) possible for others?

So I agree with this one - I would be very surprised if Tänak does not drive a Toyota next year with addition, that I could be a bit surprised if he does not drive a Toyota already this year.
 
Maybe he just drove with current Rally1 car just to get some comparision for developing 27 car. To get a feeling on some specific area which is working at the moment on Rally1 car and they want to use same logic on new car.
 
Or maybe, it was just a "prize" for Tänak for doing great job with WRC27 car as they finalized the design of its WRC27 entry and will start the work on the first chassis this week. So Tänak just wanted to drive the best car on the roads he likes the most.
