Lancia Corse HF

Nobody seems talk about, that Lancia secured team title in WRC2 in a debut year. Quite an achievement. Well done.

Team / constructor title is something for the shareholder / company, I doubt that fans care very much indeed. Still a really nice achievement

Champ on its first year.... Nobody cares, not even us. Then we ask "Why no one is coming to WRC"?
No RoI even among us, hardcore fans. Sure, thats not RALLY1, but still. Also, can Lancia still build new Rally2s after 2030?
Im lost on the homologation thing. The other brand's deals end in 2030, right? Will they all sign up again? Will they keep producing Hatchback cars to sell-give them to their racing partners to be converted in more Rally2s after 2030?

No big deal really. WRC2 to most people is a privateer drivers championship. Lancia are a manufacturer and are in the wrong room.

Skoda and Lancia have both homologations valid until 2032, Toyota until 2031 and Citroen until 2030. All others before. We will see until when both Hyundai and M-Sport will got it extended, but I assume that no further than 2032.

All cars will be valid until 2028 to compete in main WRC classification, from 2029 only in WRC2 and lower championships. But this last part is still uncertain what will happen. All could go wrong or not. We will see.

The idea is that the WRC27 Cars will replace them too.

The issue could be for Rally 3/4/5 Cars. What will Manufacturers be making replace them ?

I just found out that usually FIA grant 7-year homologation when manufacturer build a car. Then this homologation can be extended through "evo upgrades". The cars are based on production models, so they can be homologated until the brand actually produce those cars in factory. When productions stops and when there is no more "evo upgrades", the car enter 8-year final cycle homologation on top of that, so they can still compete and teams don't need to instantly buy new cars.

So that means, that Rally2 cars could run until 2040?

There's no justification for offering a teams championship in WRC2 when they're the same (manufacturer) teams and vehicles you're struggling to recruit to the constructors.

If WRC2 even remains a thing.

i think i read somewhere that 2026 is the last year they can homologate a new rally2 car. then will be wrc27.
same way homologation of the current car will end 2030 (or 32, can't remember).

i remember seeing that too. im still going by the idea that r5s will disapear in the next 10 years, while being replaced by the wrc27 cars (that are going to be accepted in erc and national series, eventually). thats a huge business oportunity for what they keep calling "builders", since 'anyone can build the chassis, the engine etc' now.

then i imagine wrc plan to open the powertrain thing in 2029 is an attempt to bring manufacturers back so theeeen they can - with time - 'replace current r5s with the wrc27' then introduce a new top class when its all more stable. idk, im going by this concept
