If you could buy the WRC…..

I was reading the new Promoter's press release and I'm so happy that what I was screaming for in the last couple of years, some fresh faces from the outside world, immediately targeted. Tell the people's stories, make the drivers the WRC heroes.

A long-term development plan built on three pillars
Cosmobilis and Park Square are implementing a long-term development plan to make the WRC and ERC attractive, profitable, and sustainable global sports properties, built around three strategic pillars:
  • Enhancing the delivery of the events to create a more spectacular, accessible, and immersive rally experience in order to grow the fanbase and bring the sport to a whole new generation.
  • Building on WRC and ERC as global brands, raising the profile of drivers and all stakeholders through multi-platform broadcasting and new content.
  • Strengthening sustainability goals, by aligning WRC and ERC operations and environmental goals with manufacturer expectations and carbon neutrality objectives.
  • An experienced and strategic leadership team
All I can say is LOVELY! I feel less loopy! lol

To make the sport more popular, you need to make people believe the sport is already popular. That’s not going to happen by showing coverage of events such as Saudi Arabia. Sort the calendar out, and only include events where in person spectator numbers will look good for TV.

WRC will not win casual spectators through sporting credentials alone. It needs to build hype, and make it more glamorous / attractive to wealthy investors. It’s not an easy product to sell though unfortunately.
