2026 WRC News & Rumours

That's a pretty big 'I was there' moment to have! Easy for me to say maybe, but I think you could choose 'good way' now. Most likely next round you see Ogier carrying on like it didn't happen. It's OK to have a healthy respect for what these guys do, go through and the commitment that is so much more than Friday to Sunday.

I also pay respect to you for responding, not everybody would, but also I have much respect for not getting as many photos as you can in the moment and sharing their agony for clout and views. Far too many would have done, even where there's injuries and crew are not out the car and it's just distasteful. Maybe someone did, I've not seen it.

Anyway, glad you had a good time. I still remember my trip fondly. Let's see what the future holds.

I have some images of me running towards the car but I instantly stopped the recording just when I saw that not everything is alright.

We know that they are alright now, so maybe I will think about sharing my video later, but I didn't want to share anything connected since I didn't have the informations about Seb's health.

Unfortunately, I saw few people recording things, which personally I would never record.

Glad they are fine and bring on the rest of 2026, since we have an uncertain future next years.

I also want to show big respect to Virves, who witnessed the whole situation and still managed to finish and win the rally. I think his mood at stage end interview at Leustu 2 says it all - I recommend to rewatch.

Amazing luck to pick that of all places to see possibly the most surprising and significant accident of recent times in WRC.

Ogier is the last driver you expect to see go off in that way and it since appears it wasnt caused by a mechanical or puncture.

I'm sure it would be ok to share your images now they are recovered and planning to continue in the next rallies.

Such a contrast with Ogier - Ogier is collecting titles, putting effort into it. Rovanperä, with all his talent, just wants to chill and do only things he really likes to do. Rallying with so intense calendar does not seem to fit into the "enjoy and chill" category.

Tänak has pretty much the same - likes to drive cars (and this is what he is doing at the moment), but without the intense non-stop-travelling-somewhere-worldwide-away-from-family overhead.

Yep, it doesnt sound like he has any interest or motivation to return to rallying any time soon. Plus his description of the WRC27 car makes it even less.

He sounds like circuit racing of some kind is still his plan.
 
ott and kalle are good mates with taka, he must be a really nice guy, like, for real.
weird to see kalle saying he is not watching anything from wrc and that he doesnt miss the events, just the driving.
he said he didnt even wanted to do rally finland... hes really not into this thing haha
but i cant BET YOU if toyota would give him the budget to do the full euro masters drift, he would jump in in a heartbeat haha

i was always really curious about the way fins think. they always seem to be so relaxed and dont care about anything. i wonder if thats a 'language thing', that we can only see when we hear them talking in english. during his vlogs in finish, the conversation between him and his mechanics and mates is so different from what im used to in my language and english. their MINDS work different. they look so stoic most of the time. estonians too haha
 
There are fathers and mothers out there that impose their own dreams and desires on their children. Without asking the children if it is their dreams and desires too.

I am not saying this happend here, but you get the gist
 
Perfect example why intense workhours doesn't work anymore in today's world. We had this discussion before. People become aware and especially younger generation (including me), that it's more to life that just working, no matter the money. It's not worth it. And it's the same in this sport. He also achieved everything and it just add to his mindset that he wants to enjoy other things, more relaxed life, pursue something different.

I happen to notice during my career in various jobs I had, that there is always people which do work over 20 or 30 years the same job, the same company, and probably the same stuff over and over again. I admire that, as I personally would go crazy or completely lost motivation. World has changed and so people too. Priorities changes and more and more people do care about families, free time, relaxation, doing hobbies... SOme of you will again tell me, that he is/was doing the job many of people just dream of and also gets well payed for that, but even that sometimes comes to an end. He was doing that intensively for 10+ years, so I completely understand him.
 
People are different and it’s okay. It’s their life and our ego has to understand it. Kalle has achieved so much and after all, 2nd, 3rd etc world title is just another title.

Life in general becomes quite mundane at one point. And it seems that some people are keen on fighting the reality. But at the end of the day it still runs work-family-hobby (personal time)-rest cycle.

But instead of Kalle comeback, I'd prefer Latvala one. The level he still drives on is worthy of more than he does currently.
 
If they would go to replace it should go immediately while it's still some time, if not just cancel this horrible of a joke event.

Ogier wants a tarmac event for fairness at the final event ie no disadvantage to the leader like road-sweeping on gravel.
 
The Grampian Forest Rally starts tonight with some WRC drivers entered (Evans, Armstrong, Jurgenson, Rossel & Gryazin) in Rally2 cars. This is a round of the British Rally Championship with the likes of Osian Pryce and Max McRae. Brandon Semenuk is also here.

This will be a fact-finding mission ahead of Rally Scotland 2027.
