2026 ERC News & Rumours

new promoter in place but everybody will only talk about wrc... what about erc?

im not sure i wish bigger things for erc cuz its good enough the way it is... otherwise it starts to become more of a circus and thats not the idea here, right? and when i think about 'changes', i think of "rgt, n4, kit cars, groupN back" or "start an open 2wd class" - but thats more on the fia side than the promoter, eh? lets hope for something like having those 26min full event highlights on youtube a couple days after the events, that would be cool, but overall i dont see the need of stuff changing.

you fellas?

I guess just the overall promotion can be better to get the ERC in front of more people, like with WRC. If WRC rally is a niche sport, then ERC is even more niche.

Social media and YT are useful but I still think free-to-air mainstream live TV for a few years would grow the sport better than anything.

I wouldn't change much, keep it participation based and the flagship championship of the industry. Teams and tyres are what is 'championed' besides the drivers and coeys. So I don't agree with the car groups you mentioned, it should be the latest, flagship international formulae but with the sporting freedoms to pick and choose what brand car, tyres, permitted sponsors etc. Maybe restore the makes championship? No registration or participation necessary, just homologated cars being used. Rewards those who supplied into the industry, especially with constructors on the way who need to produce and sell and compete in WRC.

If there's appetite for an open-2wd rally series then I can't imagine it being continental.

I get there are challenges with travelling costs all around, but if WRC had more P1 entrants and fewer European rounds like is ideal to me, then in simple theory, ERC should get more popular and WRC2 less so. That works for me and is what I'd push for.

Publicity and social media visibility is of lower concern. I'm not sure what the current TV deal consists of and is worth to form an opinion.

rx king johan kristoffersson won Rallye ADAC Mittelrhein in his class (RGT i guess?). he was racing a 992 redbull porsche. finished 6th overall, even beating some R5s
