65 cars entered for the Daytona ARCA race. (http://www.arcaracing.com/news.cfm?contentid=6119/)

Wonder if some cup teams had a "buy one get one free sale" :p :

In addition to the guys listed in the article, others entered include Scott Speed, Dario, 73 year old James Hylton, Greg Sacks, Andrew Ranger, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

That's a great turnout, sometimes I get as much if not more enjoyment watching the lower levels of the oval ladder as what I do watching Sprint Cup.
It's just a shame that I can't get to watch them as much as I like. If anyone knows of anyway I can watch ARCA/Hooters/ASA racing, feel free to pm me with details. ;)

Close enough. There was an article last summer saying that the early switch to CoT, would drop the going rate for the old cars from +50k to about $25k.

$25k, that's around £12,500 at the current exchange rate!

Now all I have to do is drum up entry fees for the races and fuel money and I'm laughing.

So far looks like only 1 open-wheel deserter to NASCAR is trying to make the ARCA race ...
Dario Franchitti will be in the Chip Ganassi owned #40 Dodge ... http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/s.gif

i do watch the ARCA race at daytona every year, but only to see big wrecks because those guys are not as exciting as the Cup guys on SuperSpeedways

There's also Scott Speed who was in F1 last year, and Andrew Ranger who raced in CCWS in 2006, but did race stock cars in Canada last year.

I'd have expected to see most if not all the new guys signed up for the race, superspeedway racing is something that you can only learn by actually going out and doing it!

Scott Speed has qualified in the front row besides Justin Marks. Dario Franchitti starts 9th.

Scott Speed 39thMichael is a rookie too. I had no clue who he was while I was watching the race, but he had the ol' yellow stripes on the back bumper. It was a good race! But I was cheering for my bud Dexter Bean though!

I laughed when Speed wrecked...he seemed like a cocky SOB before the race!

Missed that, but he was a bit in F1 too - but seemed a nice guy who knew his place in the sport.

Yeah...Speed kind of reminded me off the Russ Wheeler character from Days of Thunder. :)

Scott Speed was Mr Obnoxious in F1, has not changed much.
Anyway it was interesting to see two road racers in positions 1 and 2 for qualifying.
