Actually that is rather interesting, Henning is driving for Munchi's!

2nd February 2008, 10:58
According to Hennings Manager the reasoning is that Stobart would like to have 2 Stobart sponsored cars fronting the team where possible. (The Orange Expert Car does not blend in !)
In rallies where Munchi's only have one car, Henning will drive for Munchi's. He will have the same people supporting him from M-Sport, so no big drama, and Henning is Happy !
If I had been Munchi's CEO I would also be happy, since they will get more Manufacturer points this way.
And Mr Wilson Sr probably wants all 3 Ford teams to Score points. All in all a good solution for all parties involved !!!

What a shame, no North American drivers :( The number of local drivers is similar to previous years, but it's a shame there are so few foreign privateers.

Costs I believe
And there are already many drivers in S1600(JWRC) to my opinion ;)
Keep a cloth eye to team Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia :D
Sébastien Loeb himself would have adviced Citroën to give a chance to this young and fully promising crew(if you followed them in the french 206 Cup you should understand my point of view) :p :

Only two years experience in rallying(starting when they won the "Rallye-Jeunes" challenge by end 2005)and they collected many wins and the title in 2007 at the french Peugeot 206 Cup, simple as that :D
Ogier won on tarmac as on gravel(he likes both type of rallies) ;)

That would be nice, but we'll see at that time. Maybe it is better for Skoda to stay in IRC as it has more appropriate events for marketing, perhaps more suited rival manufacutrers and better TV. Unless WRC sorts itself out by then...

So, here is the idea of Kopecký's livery for Mexico. Main partners for this start are Federal Mogul and Fila:

Kopecky's Punto looks great! Much better than all the WRC teams. How is it that a small Czech private team can do so much better at this than all the multi-million$$$ car manufacturers?
Hope to see the same livery for Kopecky in IRC.

There are no championship points to be given for "Best livery" , maybe that's why ;)

Not yet :D Why not suggest it to Chandler?
Anyhow, for the manufacturers the WRC is primarily marketing, so they should get their act together!

I don't think so.
On her website it says she will enter five WRC, four APRC and one MERC round this season, so will quite busy. I think that she is just renting one of the Mexican 206 Cup cars for this event.

What is the difference between the groups/classes eg - in jwrc s1600 and the R3? and in pwrc n4 and n3?
Mirek
8th February 2008, 16:40
N3 is JWRC class ;)
N3 - production cars up to 2000 ccm, only two wheel drive, for example Civic Type-R, Clio Sport, Fiesta ST
N4 - production cars up to 3500 ccm (2 litre turbo), usualy 4WD, these days rulles for N4 allow much more changes than in years before, for example Impreza or Lancer
S1600 - specials with body kit, engine up to 1600 ccm, sequential gearbox etc., for example Citroën C2, Suzuki Swift, Renault Clio
R3 - new class, up to 2000 ccm, two wheel drive, something better than N3, it has better suspension, sequential gearbox, but still not as specialized as S1600, for example new Clio or new Civic Type-R
S2000 - up to 2000 specials, 4WD with body kit, sequential gearbox, for example Peugeot 207, Fiat Punto

thanxs for the info, i always thought that any cars that competed in pwrc were 2 litre production cars and in jwrc were 1600 wrc really. would that not mean a n3 car and a s1600 in jwrc, that the n3 would be faster as bigger engine size n3 - up to 2 litres? and s1600 only 1.6? what does the a8/a6 mean after the wrc entrys?

It is a round of the JWRC, but those guys don't know much about traveling by anything bigger than a ferry boat.

markf8691: No, S1600 are clearly much faster than N3 cars. N3 have bigger engines but they are much less modiffied. They have even less power than S1600. S1600 have some 230-240 Hp and 1000 kg. N3 have some 190-220 Hp and ca 1100 and more kg. Moreover N3 can't have sequential gearbox, big brakes, body kit (wider track), special suspension etc.
Basicly group N are production cars with lower level of upgrades than gr. A. The number means engine capacity. N1 up to 1400 ccm, N2 up to 1600, N3 up to 2000, N4 up to 3500 (turbo coefficient 1,7 means that 2 litre turbo is N4). Group A are much more modiffied can't have body kit as well. They are A5 up to 1400, A6 up to 1600, A7 up to 2000, A8 up to 3500 ccm. In some countries there is A0 too, which is up to 1000 ccm. And than there are special categories like S1600, S2000 or WRC which have even special rulles. There are also some old cars now in classes A6VK (Saxo Kit Car) or A7VK (Peugeot 306 Maxi, Xsara Kit Car).

well JWRC guys have to race out of Europe every once in a while...
If not it would be called European Junior rally championship or something..
in 2004 when they raced in Mexico it wasn't that bad really, and anyway I think S1600 are more spectacular (cause the noise mainly). Plus brands like Suzuki can get more out of it as the swift is a more commercial model to market.
