We've been fortunate with a relatively mild winter... until today...

Hope the local ambient conditions are more favourable in your area...

-32C at my house this morning. Wind chill makes it -49C. I actually had to wear a coat to shovel the snow. The fireplace beckons...

Ditto.

Thank goodness for a block heater, although it does bugger-all for transmission fluid (my left leg got a work out on the morning drive in to work :p : ).

I'd bet there's a bunch of members here who have absolutely no idea what a block heater is . hehe

You mean that you don't have to start a fire under the engine to warm it up?

Last night was the coldest we've had hereabouts this "winter" with -12C, it's bloody ridiculous, there has barely been snow on the ground for a week now and it might melt away again this week. For the fourth time this winter. I'd take -30C and meter of snow rather than this.

I live on the shores of Severn Sound part of Georgian Bay. The small bays froze Dec. 2. Ice huts out by the 10th. Then a big thaw with huge thunderstorm. Some huts ended up in the bay. Most people just got their huts back out over the weekend being very cautious. Only about 3 to 4 inches of good solid blue ice and 6 of slushy stuff. We also got about 4 feet of snow locally so it acts as insulation. Now there is another mild spell with rain forecast for tonight. Here we go again! Lake Simcoe a huge ice fishing area still has open water as does most of Georgian Bay.
I own a fishing tackle store so follow this closely!

Never heard of it, but I can guess what it is for. Have a look at your temp, remove the - symbol and you have our temp. The coldest it gets here is around 10C in winter.

It didn't break, it just moved about 1200km's east. We had -4C on Monday. Now it's -30 with -45 windchill.

Southern Ont. didn't really need your cold weather either, although the ice fishermen may disagree.

Schmenke's -15 is just a vision of balminess to us damp Brits :mark:

It's something we see only on a calendar :p :

Apparently it's only going to feel like -235 here. I laugh at that sort of weather! But -241. Brrrrrrr

That's pretty funny. At lest some of the elements would still be in liquid form at that temperature, so you won't be thirsty!

At least it isn't -272. Absolute 0.
Many, many years ago Gary Magwood raced under the #-272. Very few people caught on.
