RicKT
22nd January 2008, 22:36
Hi guys,

As i have just received my official magazine and map in the post today, i am going to start plotting the stages i wish to attend throughout the rally.

As i know theres some regular attendees and a few "first timers" member's here who are attending this year, i though it would be a good idea to plot what stages you are planning to attended.

This way we can share thoughts on stages, ideas, advice etc etc..

Over the next few days i am going to plot my "planned" full route with details of times, distance and expected traveling time to stages etc..

Please note, All my routes are going to be based from central Karlstad.

Update to follow shortly...

Thanks

Rick

woah.

I don't know about you, but I've never been to Colin's Crest and don't feel any urge to go there. 1000's of spectators, which I don't like :p

And for Ullen, I was on that part of the stage last year (called Backa then). The spot by the bridge looked very nice, but we decided to go on (towards the start) just to have a look. We walked quite far and found a really nice wide downhill hairpin, with the cars just passing below your feet. Here is a picture: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/ViktorL/?action=view&current=SwedishRally2007015.jpg
And captured on film if you like:

Indeed, Colin's Crest is wild and packed. If you don't get there early, or don't get into a fist fight over your patch of snow, you could be in for a rather forgettable experience. There is a bit of a mystique to it, with that many fans in one area though.

I would recommend, seeing if you can get your paws on a "bootleg" map that shows roads that aren't on the published rally guide. These roads are often the access roads to and from the start and finishes, marked obscurely with a wooden stick with a small orange arrow. If you hookup with some friendly marshalls, they may let you spectate the start/finish areas.

Thats exactly my thoughts... I perfer to be in a quiter area area from Marshalls shouting stay behind the magic safte tape!

Im think i may do 11/14 point 2c and take a walk from there and see what i find..

As im taking the TOMTOM, its got all roads and tracks on there... so should be able to take "other" routes away from the traffic like last year!

Thanks RickT.

No worries...

Most of them are, except the first stage shown with a rally car, and the one with the hairpin (Gardemeister stalls), they are on Torntorp and Lejen. If you want to know where any of the others are, I'd be happy to tell you.
