There's a guy who's wondering how the tank before the inlet stores boost, anyone know how it works?

I can answer that!!!

I actually sent an email to Prodrive asking the following:
One thing that I have noticed that you have an enlarged intercooler pipe on the right of the picture:

I'm wondering why this would be?

In my very limited knowledge of engine performance, design and manufacture I'm lead to believe that an excessively large intercooler pipe would increase turbo lag which, obviously, is not the aim. Can you briefly explain this to me?

Jackie Irwin at Prodrive gave me the following responce:
The turbo inlet pipe is large because we use it as an insulator for the air. We are allowed 20ltrs of air between throttle body and turbo so we try to keep it insulated.

On a standard or "passive wastegate activation" the statement (regarding lag) is true however we run a fully electronic wastegate so it's not true for us.

So, with my limited understanding one could say that it doesnt 'store boost' per say, but it acts as a air reservoir of sorts.

Anyone like to shed further insight to this?

Anyone know if thats actualy how the S12 engine looks like with the air intake under the scoop instead in the grill like before

i think that temperature of air in turbo is important so it is insulated. if it is cold the air takes less volume so it goes more air inside. But on other side you still need to cool down the air and for this you need energy.

just my thinking

will n14 also have new development of engine? is there possible to get any plan of the engine or it is secret?
