According to norwegian website http://www.norsk-rally.com Henning Solberg will be driving a Ford Fiesta ST in the first round of the Norwegian Rally Championship, Mountain Rally Norway, coming saturday.

"It`s just for fun, but I`m really looking forward to it", says Henning in a press-release, and adds that the Fiesta is the smallest and least powerful of all rallycars he has driven.

As I recall Henning Solberg has never driven anything else but 4WD cars in rallying since he started his career in a Toyota Celica ST165 in 1996. Before that he ran a Volvo 242 in hillclimb and rallycross, and a Ford Escort Cosworth Group N in the European Rallycross Championship 1995. He has also done a few guest appearances in tarmac racing in a Honda Civic VTEC and a Porsche 996.

Good ol’ Henning, is Loisl Alzheimer also on your heels already…? Did Henning not start his RX career with a RWD Ford Escort Mk2…?

Well,I always like(and appreciate) when top drivers go back into small cars.It is an one-off drive,no points on the line, with a fun car.It shows that rallying isnt just about world-class cars and drivers

I can`t actually remember the Escort MK2, but maybe it`s the Alzheimer playing me tricks. Petter Solberg started in a MK2 Escort in 1994 - and possibly he "inherited" this car from Henning, who ran it in 93...?

When it comes to the Fiesta drive last saturday, Henning did a great job and had a lot of fun. I don`t think many drivers in 4WD cars was any faster than him on the downhill and tight sections during the rally. Actually codriver Cato Menkerud said that he had lots of time with the pace-notes when they were running uphill, but he read notes in WRC style when they were going downhill!

My vote goes to the guy who said before Rally Norway last year that Henning would win it. :) :)

What about the people who voted for someone else other than Loeb to win the title this year?

Quite many changes (tyres, drivers) for this year, better maybe to wait a few rounds and see before start to predict anything.

unfortunately for the sick dogs the changes are universal.....same like the passive diffs some time ago...Sick dogs remained sick and the rally drivers drove the carsand won championships.

Yes Henning drove the Escort MK2 and a Volvo340/360 before the 240.
But even before that he used to race beaten up vw beetles :D

True. But you could put Loeb in a goat powered Citroen on wooden wheels and he's beat everyone else.......

True most likely he will win, but in a motorsport many things can happen.

But Beetles he used for Bilcross only, AFAIK…

BTW, to those not familiar with Norwegian motorsport: Yep, the translation for Bilcross is Autocross, but it has not much in common with FIA style Autocross. It is rather 'Rallycross for the poor', very similar to what the Swedes call Folkrace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folkrace).
