Anybody got any ideas how the lap times would stack up between a S2000 race car and the base model road car? Seem to remember BBC doing a comparison between the super touring mondeo and the 2.0 zetec round silverstone sometime in 1999/2000 (someone get this on youtube!!) but it would be interesting to see just how much faster the modern race cars are compared to their road going cousins.

Anybody? Surely someone here must have a fair idea?!

I remember the comparison you mention. Didn't Menu give the top spec road car something like a 20 second head start around Donington and still beat it? I would imagine the difference must be something in that region and probably more for a standard road car

Sounds like something Top Gear should do - pitch their Lacetti against the WTCC one and see how they stack up.

S2000 cars are much more production based than ST cars were, the gap would be less (even giving allowance for the fact we are 8 years down the track from Super Touring)
