The higher costs to contest IRC next year, that is you are obliged to go Kenya and China, is the main reason of Peugeot Spain's decision to retire from IRC.
They will return to SRC with Ojeda and another young driver.

This was one of my fears of forcing teams to contest all events, but I didn't know that decision had been taken.

Hmmm, are we sure this has been confirmed?

I don't understand how they will work it - by team, by manufacturer or driver or what?

I've read the news also in http://www.autoklub.pl :(

Good news though they still run somewhere next year(spanish championship is well disputed)... :)

Tom do you know if the rules about teams entering have changed to make them do all of the events? I can only think this may be bacause of the entries in China that brought it to their attention :s

Rules has changed - manufacturer can take points from 7 best results, but only 6 in Europe (I dont remember, if it is 7-6 or 6-5). Nobody tells - you must start out of Europe, but if you want to take all 7 results, one of that result must be from China/Safari/Russia.

I'm surprised the 2nd 207 driver in spanish championship won't be Jesus Puras as a strong rumour already stated

Who is the winner of the 206 Cup this year ???

Eyvind

Jordi Marti, from Catalonia
Good driver, but his title was very controversial for irregularities in his car

Shame that the defending champions wont be there in 08. I guess Kronos will end up being the "official" Peugeot entry in the absence of a works team as cant see many other teams based in Europe wanting to do Safari and China.

Not a good start for the 2008 IRC

Eyvind

It's a way of losing teams, as is happening, and we hope that no other team leaves the competition

Let's hope Peugeot Italy, Portugal or even Hungary,...will add to Kronos in IRC08 :mark:

Many a championship over the years has been blighted by teams turning up at events driving over the start ramp then "retiring" just so they can qualify for points. Perhaps if the IRC organisers had perhaps made it more attractive for teams to compete in the "overseas" events like double points etc then more than just Abarth would turn up. After all in the absence of a "works" Pug team what commercial benefit would an importer team gain by competing in say China? I can see the attraction of Madeira and Portugal for the Portugese team but not Safari.

I was looking at reguations and right version is between - manufacturers can take maximum 7 best results, but only 5 from Europe. For drivers, there isnt any regional regulation, they are counting 7 best results.

It's a very bad new for Nicolas Vouilloz, because i think it's the better driver of the IRC his year...and where did he go next year???

PS : i'm sorry for my bad english because,i'm french and it's the first time that i'm go on a english forum... ;)

Tom206wrc
17th December 2007, 15:19
I think Vouilloz would have still lot of choice with many teams owning 207s(Bozian, BSA, many italian teams(Friulmotors,Twister Corse, Racing Lions, Munaretto), GMA from Switzerland, Kronos of course, Tagai Racing Technology from Hungary,...) ;)

ouninpojha
17th December 2007, 21:05
But all of this team ask budget and Nico have no budget...

Do you know if Bozian participate at the IRC ? with a 207?

Karbonyl
17th December 2007, 21:19
Bozian has no 207 yet...

ouninpojha
17th December 2007, 21:45
In France, Bozian start again the championship with Patrick Henry with a 307...

Tom206wrc
18th December 2007, 00:33
BSA would be a good idea for Vouilloz, but all depends of the availability of the second 207 though :mark:

Will Julien Pressac run with it along Brice Tirabassi(start 100% sure for him)...???

ouninpojha
18th December 2007, 09:06
Julien Pressac run with BSA no?

Julien Pressac run with BSA no?

I don't know indeed :s

Recent official press releases only talked about Tirabassi until now :mark:

But I really hope Pressac will also run IRC ;)

In Spain there are rumors about the possibility that Nico Vouilloz and Dani Solà are in negotiations with Kronos to have a 207 in some rallys

On the blog of a Spanish journalist said that Kronos could have 4 cars in some races

I don't give much credibility :dozey:

HaCo
19th December 2007, 11:26
Marc Van Dalen himself told in an interview that his structure could support up to 6 cars, ideally would be 4 cars.

Tom206wrc

Let's hope that it will be true :)

Glad Sola wants to leave Honda to drive a 207 :p :

Jordib
25th December 2007, 13:43
Dani always wanted to be in a S2000 car in the IRC, but as always it all depends on his budget (wich does not exist from him), and Honda offered his drive without budget to develop the R3 and maybe later a new S2000 car from Honda if the project goes on. Now he is searching a drive with a S2000 car for 2008 IRC but nothing is confirmed yet, and Honda option is not discarted also.

So apparently Ojeda's future teammate in Spain wouldn't be forcingly the 2007 206 Cup winner as Peugeot-Sport Espana is testing three or four drivers...

Miguel Arias will be Enrique Garcia Ojeda's teamate on the spanish championship this year ;)

It's because I fear the news would appear invisible to our spanish friends on that forum if I used one thread only :D

But anyway it seems the news is totally wrong in fact... :s
