2008 Colin McRae Rally 2 Championship

The championship with this classic game is back again for it's 7th season!

There's a slight change in the championship, most of you already know it, but here's the changes again:

The Constructors Championship is scrapped to make room for the Teams Championship, meaning now more than one team can drive the same car and still scores points, this also makes dissapear the "privateer" tag on any driver.

All teams are limited to 2 drivers, both of them can score team points.

So now choose a car from this list(CMR2 counterpart on brackets) and fill the entry list!

I've finally found a way to play the game on my PC without crashing out because I lose control of the car. It seems that when I try to turn, I have to do it in parts, release the button three times in a corner. It's fast but annoying and most of all; my thumbs feel worse than after a playstation marathon. :p : The only cars that are really enjoyable are those who have no 4WD. Seems I'll have to get myself a steering wheel. :D

Hi Dumb.

The CMR2 competition is run offline, and no proof is needed. You run the races and PM your times to jso1985.

The new season will begin with the Monte Carlo Rally in late January. You can sign up with a team or just race as a privateer if you like.

To get all the cars in the game, for the PC cheat it is " allthebuttons ", and for PS it is " onecarefulowner "

You'll have noticed the cars not included in the game , if you are on the PC version it's possible to download cars. The best site for car downloads is here - http://www.colinmcrae.110mb.com/cmr2.htm

There you can download up-to-date Lancers, Impreza's, Xsara's, Focus', 307, Fabia's...list goes on.

For people on PS1 need to be a little more imaginative, and new cars in the WRC at the moment have game counterparts, eg. the 206 can pretend as a Suzuki SX4 or a Citroen C4.

Every team is ranked following the 2007 championship results of their drivers. Marcel won so he gets car 1, cyborg hasn't shown up yet so car 2 goes to the third man, tannat. The news boys are ranked in chronological order of entry. :)

I didn't change much to the Fabia. Two holes in the bumper have been closed, it now has a Japanese registration and a few sponsor stickers. The Skoda Logo is still on the bonnet. :p

Ok , once you've downloaded the skins, you copy+paste them into

C:/ -> Program Files -> Codemasters -> Colin McRae Rally 2 -> Game -> Cars

If you want to install the cars so you can use the liveries in the SSS too then copy the (car)a1.bfl and rename it to (car)c1.bfl

Replace (car) with foc, sub, sea, pum, whatever car you want to replace in the game.

Minimum requirements: 32MB RAM, 8MB Graphics. ;)

128 - 32 is recommended though.

No problems at all Frozzy, the reason for that is because you probably have your game set to lo-res skins. Go to Options->Graphics and find the option for Detail, and where it says Car - slide to high. ;)

Handling isn't superb but that's the best part of the car, you have to change your way of driving a bit. The car being RWD makes sure your always have high RPM so plenty of power. :D

Cos CMR3 is total poo compared to CMR2 :) LOL ;)

Cmr2 offers a wider variety of competition and more people can enter as it runs on older systems (Pc's) and people with the original Playstation :D

For me CMR2 is better as it has newer mods available for it.

Been awhle since I played CMR3, but if I remember correctly the only WRC car available is the Focus.

No fun with everyone driving a Focus

Using the mirrored functions there are a lot more stages in CMR2.

The graphics are far superior in CMR3, but it falls way short in terms of car and stage variety.

And I just like the subjective 'feel' of CMR2. When I'm in championship mode it feels like a true WRC championship.

Not so with CMR3...

Ok, I have reinstalled the CM2; can I join in for the championship 2008?
Am I free to pick any car?
Does it matter if I for example use a 206 instead of a newer car or do I have to drive with a "new" car?
I thought I would compete as a privateer under the name Curtans Motorsport.

Hi guys, several years ago I did a one-off round (I think it was the Acropolis) with a Peugeot 206 entered by RallyBase Racing - and finished a very distant last. But I was happy with having finished at all as I started playing the game only a few weeks before. I recently re-installed CMR2 on my PC and I'd like to compete on selected rounds this year, time permitting.

So I might run my own private team, or maybe somebody wants the RallyBase sponsorship and makes me an offer to use a second car in his team? ;)

RallyBase.nl is pleased to announce a deal with Curtans Motorsport from Sweden which allows a second Peugeot 206 WRC driven by RallyBase.nl owner Kabouter to partner the teams regular driver Magnus on selected rounds of the 2008 CMR2 World Rally Championship. I would like correct that and participate the championship with my 5 years old son Tuomo with two Peugeot 307's. My son is young, but he drove CMR2 first time when he was 2 years. Think we are limited to wet tarmac only on sweden stages for the monte. Free choice on the italy stages

No testing bans whatsoever...Rallies are to be done in single rally mode with no restarts.

Important Monte Rules: for the sweden stages wet tarmac tires only are allowed. It's a good idea to have a go at these stages so equipped so that the lack of grip doesn't catch you off guard :D

An addtional Monte rule also applicable for the Sweden round: no cutting across the drifts on the frozen lake stage (SS2)

If the format is the same, I can easily make a tool for you which calculates the stage-by-stage results with a single press on the button. But I have to know what the exact format is and everyone should use it and leave it like that.

The , or . as decimal seperator is determined by the regional settings of your computer. In most parts of europe we use the dot as decimal seperator, but I believe in the UK and US the comma is used. But I can arrange something in the program to correct this automatically. I'll try to get it working as soon as possible, but can't promise I'll have it in time for the Monte.

Hi guys.
I want to apologise for missing rallies.I think I won't compete in this friendly :) championship for a some time.I play Richard Burns rally and I don't have enough time for CMR2.And for sure,no time for training. Soory guys for lating.I hope someday(ofcourse if you let me come back) I will be back. CMR2 championship is really friendly.Nice fight there :)
