I have an idea.

We've got a bit more popular over the past couple of years, so there's more of us about and hopefully quite a few of you will go for this.

I think we should have a go at raising some money for charity as a forum. We recently had the PR/Media officer from the Chris Jones Memorial Fund post on the forum about the dinner they held recently, which is an excellent cause - raising money to buy a mobile X-ray unit for racetracks in the UK to improve facilities for Britain's racers.

The website for the Chris Jones fund is http://www.cjnine.com/

There is also Riders for Health - http://www.riders.org/ - started in the 1980s by a group including Randy Mamola to provide maintenance for motorcycles delivering healthcare in Africa - a vital service as you can imagine in conditions much more difficult than the ones any of us live in, and every little does help. Riders for Health run the Day of Champions events at Donington, Jerez and other tracks, and were recently featured in a large article in one of Britain's top newspapers, praising the excellent work they do.

Two very worthy causes indeed, and both directly linked to our forum.

What are we actually going to do then?

Well, I haven't put anything specific together yet, but just wanted to flag the idea up and see where we go with it. A lot of companies do charity fun runs and things - I think I'm doing a 10km one next year - and so with stuff like that you could use Riders or the CJ Fund as a charity.

You can, of course, donate directly to Riders for Health online at any time via their website. :)
