You sure? Today there was a big story about him in Helsingin Sanomat (finnish newspaper) and he said he is 100% to do US series and trying to do PWRC, but some event may be same time as US, so maybe not possible to do PWRC

ZequeArgentina

Mostprobable Pozzo will do the national champonship, and there isstill some possibility to do PWRC (but very difficultto work it out).

What was very clear is that he needs to complement PWRC wih something else, he faced lack of rythm this year, till he did some natinal rallies mixed wih PWRC.

Only 6 rallies in all year is very little, he did some 3 national rallies, which will a little short, are done at very high pace. It is a very competitive championship with rallies defined at the second.
Pozzo struggled to get to top 4 in National level, he got the speed but finding the pace early was difficult. (in PWRC you need to find the addcuate speed, in Arg. Champ flat out since the start)

Looking at the calendars there were no date conflicts with Rally America events here in the states. There will be some back to back Rally-America/PWRC event weekends but no direct date conflicts that I saw (there is one point where in 3 weeks it will be Acropolis, Rally America (STPR), Turkey but no date conflicts).

I'd put a lot of weight in him doing the events. As far as I know the team is planning on leaving their container in GB and then having it shipped to Sweden for next year...

1snowrally and 7gravelrallys, I think it´s still battle between Subaru and Mitsu, S2000 cars have advantage in tarmac. I´m dreaming of good results of S2000 cars, because N-cars are boring.

The sport director of the team has relations with my company, and he was the one with doubt about continuity in the PWRC for next year and were looking for another championship to focus besides national and regional rallying (a tourism car team), thats is why I said that.
Then Pozzo himself confirmed they are working for next year, including a teo car team.

I fear S2000 cars will put Imprezzas and Lancer in danger for 2008 PWRC. Not for the title may be, but for raw speed.

No asphalt is a bad thing to PWRC. There should be, even if group N cars are not good ther. And S2000 are far better in tarmac than usual group N machinery.

I insist, FIA should increase group N restrictor size in order to keep competitivenes with S2000 cars (and by the way make group N cars look faster, and sound a little better dueto higher rev. engines)

Is having Evgeniy, as a first name, a prerequisite if you are a Russian rally driver and want to do the PWRC?

Looking forward to seeing young Evgeniy down this way for Rally NZ. Will he be the next wonder kid?

Best of luck to Patrick, Emil and the Peugeot Sport Sweden team, good on them to take the leap :)

Looking at this year, I have concerns for Sandell & anyothers that might be doing this years PWRC in a S2000, because:

1) As mentioned previously, the lack of a tarmac round,

2) The apparent general fragility of the cars;

2a) [the Sadev gearbox]
(in the 207s, Puntos, Polos & Corollas but not in the MG if I remember correctly) (although I hope those issues have been dealt with)

3) The Acropolis

In Sweden last year I waited and waited to see Jimmy Joge on the first friday morning stage but the Pug had retired earlier along the stage, due to the gearbox. :(

I imagine that Sweden and Finland will prove to be challenging for the S2000s due to the long high speed sections and the taller final ratio needed for those bits, sacrificing time & acceleration out of some of the tighter stuff where the Evos and Imprezas might have the upper hand.
Although that said, as rightly pointed out previously Anton Alen didn't do too bad in Finland last year :)

Anyway, heres to a good fight for the 2008 PWRC Crown
:)

bf1_IRL: I don't remember any big reliability problems of Pugs in the second half of 2007. S2000 in second half of IRC... Barum (13 cars), one retirement due to technical reasons - Solowow, Punto, engine), Sanremo (18 cars) - no retirement, Valais (7 cars): no retirement. There was a gearbox caused retirement last week on Janner rally Austria (Punto) but it was stupid banality of broken shifting string in the road section. I think that huge problems with Sadev gearboxes are history now and were just an early development issues.

In general terms, which are the main differences between a S2000 and a Group N car? I mean, power, weight...

Generally spoken:S2000 has in this year app.150 kg less than a N4 car-and this brings with better brakes and more agility on dry tarmac advantage for S2000. About power-almost the same (about 280 bhp), the main difference is that N4 car reaches this power under 4000 rpm, as S2000 needes 7000-8000 rpm.
But on a gravel this is not so obviously, so a N4 car with a fast driver can beat a S2000 car. I am talking this from experience in Italian Championship (CIR), were Andreucci was always the fastest on gravel-the only minus were technical problems with his evo9.

Mirek
12th January 2008, 13:15
Tom: MG will do any champ driver have money for ;)

feresc13: Group N has about 275-285 Hp at about 4000 and about 550+ Nm at about 3000-3500 rpm. Their weight it is some 1350-1400 kg. S2000 have some 260-280 Hp at about 8000-8500 rpm, about 250 Nm at about 6500-7000 rpm and some 1150-1200 kg. But those two classes are much more different than by engines only.

Going back to the thread I started in November titled JRC vs. PCWRC, I suspected back then that PCWRC would be the winner. Time will tell when the full entry lists are published but I think JRC has had its day with the current cars. Maybe if they went N3, Fiesta type cars it could be a viable championship again as a bottom rung, keep the events smooth gravel and tarmac. Leave PCWRC for gravel and a natural progression.

I would not mind if they skipped the JRC and collect instead the potential drivers to PCWRC, it would be easier to compaire the drivers, this year it will be nice to see how Sandell and others from JRC will compaire against the top guys from PCWRC.

Ken Block last mentioned that he would seek to continue the NZ championship given his good success last year. He's got a deal working with Sam Murray: http://www.rallyfanz.co.nz/default.asp?articleid=36

I'm sure if Mexico came up, he'd shoot for it if Monster Energy backed him. But with Robbie Gordon (also backed by Monster) losing out on the Dakar bid, who knows what Monster's attitude towards rallying is nowdays. I think a lot of it depends on where the brand DC Shoes can be recognized since this is half a business venture as well.

I mentioned Sweden or GB to him a while back and he gave me the impression that was a bit out of reach right now.

I'm more interested in what happened to Subaru Rally Team International with the Pastrana/Kamada combo. They had a website, which I can't seem to find now...

Envy, mates, we already see this monster in action! And it's a superb car really! Vertunov says it has much better handling than N13.

08 - 10/02UDDEHOLM Swedish Rally
28 - 30/03Rally Argentina
29/05 - 01/06BP Ultimate Acropolis Rally

And, why would you pay the annual FIA championship fee if you are only going to run maximum 2 events?

Subaru Team USA will begin the competition on the second round, in Mexico, and will field two entries for Travis Pastrana and Ken Block, both of whom will compete in the Production category alongside a domestic championship programme in America.

I hadn't looked at the PCWRC schedule.

I don't think there was ever a doubt that if Mexico was a WRC that Travis and Ken would be there doing it, PWRC round or not. They want the recce experience, and there isn't a close, "easier", event with that many kms for recce practice...

Apparantly SRTUSA has PWRC entry with 2 drivers, 3 events for Travis and 3 events for Ken.
The events they elected to miss is Swedish and Finland (same weekend as X Games 14 or close by)
Would be interesting to see how Travis and Ken do in group N and on Pirelli

Edstrom (codriver of Pastrana) has apparently hung it up. Derek Ringer is listed as codriver for the US championship in Missouri next week.

This may be reflective of the downscaled PCWRC calendar.
