Indystar.com reports that Jay Howard has signed with Roth Racing to pilot their second car in 2008. They also mention in the article that Roth is the first team to significantly enhance their operations after the IRL's new initiative of revenue sharing. I think it is good to see some of the better drivers from IPS getting rides in the Indycar series(Mutoh, Lloyd, and now Howard). It seems like good progress that IRL can cultivate its own talent while other series(nascar) have a ladder series that is looked at as a cash bonus for its best drivers than it is developing drivers for the future. In turn, Nascar teams are forced to hire aging, less talented drivers. I may be naive, but this just maybe, just maybe, could be evidence of the IRL turning the corner as far as the future. Any Thoughts?

Iffy move on Howard's part. Roth has consistently been a way in the back-marker for the 500 the few years he's made it.
Then again, given his finding the money to run two cars after such performances, maybe he's much better as an owner/team organizer...
As an aside...I'm curious: does the new revenue sharing plan resemble Concorde?

if it gets more cars on the grid, its got to be good. Jay is a good peddler and will show up the boss, but also will be great help to Marty. This is great news for the series.

Maybe if Jay is in the car, Marty won't be. That sounds good to me because Marty always makes me nervous. He's like a rolling chicane.

To be fair, though, he's not as bad as "Race car racing is a fast thing" Milka...

This is to be a 2 car team for the 08' season. Roth is one car and Howard in another. To be fair, If Roth was in better in equipment, he may be able to turn out better finishes...but he isnt! and neither is Howard!

Still it is a way to get his foot into the door. Look at Hornish? He ran for a team in 2000 that was sponsored by his father. Now look at him. 3 championships later, he is one of the IRL's biggest names, which sadly not be in 2008.
