any practise allowed?

Yeah - 15 minutes, sorry for not posting that before. Remember testing is allowed at the venues upto 24 hours before you run your races.

Is this on the Fosters circuit?
The Clio should be sweet around here, with only one braking area. I'll be looking extend or maintain by championship lead.

I'm hoping to hit a podium finish at this track, I might have a shot, as I run this on this track quite a bit

Just done my races. :) Ran consistant mid 52s, I tried to get a sub 52 but couldn't quite do it. I challenge someone to get a sub 52.
Alfa Fan
8th January 2007, 18:24
We'll be very close then RR. Race 1 I didn't quite make it into the 52s, but in Races 2 & 3 I was well into the 52s almost managed to get down to 51s. I reckon Vuko or JB will do sub-50s laps.
Codemasters Hall Of Fame has laps as low as 43s, but I don't believe them.

there are two brake zones, the cut-off in the track and the last turn, both of those require some form of braking, or are those steering wheels that good.
Alfa Fan
8th January 2007, 18:40
There is only one braking zone for me, thats the final corner. The others you can just sort of lift off a little bit.
Fosters bend (the bit thats not on the longer track) is no braking for me :) Just got to get the line right!
And I'm on keys! Oulton is my local track, and I know the layout inside out. Hoping for my best result yet.
The biggest disadvantage to racing with keyboards is not being able to perfect the start very well.
harvick#1
8th January 2007, 19:07
there we go, ok, I barely just touch the brakes at Fosters bend. its a tricky turn though. I running low-mid 52's right now, and I have that last turn down pretty good, just have to perfect Fosters bend

I don't use a steering wheel :p
I'm yet to do a lap but I'm looking forward to having a go.
Where about is Alfa Fan from? Oulton is my local BTCC track aswell (if you exclude Croft)

Just got back from Tasmania. Glad to see I did quite ok at Eastern Ck - a Rd win is always good!! I haven't had a chance to run the car Oulton Pk yet. I' ll have a go tomorrow.

well, just did my races and was very impressed, this is one of my favorite tracks and the last turn is one of my favorite (sliding and kicking up some dirt) ran some sub 52 laps, (when the temps were right and I hit the turns great) but race consistent laps in the very low 52's. hope the results will come in my favor so I can get a podium finish

ran my races late tuesday night. due to also running the FPA series, I didn't have any funds for pre-season testing here. so in 15 minutes I had to learn the track, set the car up, and try to get into the 52's.. which is what I heard a respectable time was.
mission accomplished!
well, sort of. I qualified for race 3 in the high 52's but my race pace was low 53's. had fun and learned the track though, and got a better handle on the car.
maybe I won't finish last this time but even if I do it was worth it!

The Alfa went well at Oulton Pk. The car got good speed out of the corners which is the secret to this place. Very confident of a podium finish in all 3 races but not sure if I was quick enough to beat J.B on home turf!

Did my races just in time I think.
I didin't manage to get into the 49second range but I got one lap in the high 50's. However, I think I might have lost time at the start of all the races due to my gear ratios. I was got bogged down in 1st :( I think that there was another second in the car, maybe Vuko found it.

well, it's official. I'm going to keep running this series just for fun, and because I like learning new tracks and because the cars are easy to drive.
but I'm putting all my testing dollars into my FPA program where I at least can finish mid-field. I've no idea why these cars give me so much trouble!
oh yeah, plus if I keep running the series then it'll be one more person that you all will be able to finish in front of. and I like you guys.

Excellent!!! Very pleased with winning all 3 events. I thought I had the car running well - it felt very good. Nice to leap frog J.B for the lead in the series. These cars are a lot of fun to drive on the limit. I can see alot of guys showing good speed & people like real,Harvick & Neil Adams will be difficult to hold off in the coming Rds.

cheers for the amends alfa, had me worried for a minute!
sorry to be a pest but i dont seem to have gained any points in the overall championship standings
quite chuffed in my improved performance, 1st podium in one of the championships for quite some time, wow race 2 was close,
amazed that im only 0.3 away from pv's fastest lap, there was a point when i thought it impossible to get that near to the leading pace, guess i need to work on my consistency a bit. I spent some time tweaking the setup and its definitley paid off.
