Since the Dakar rally is taking place in Africa, and doesn't have anything to do with the WRC company, the discussion is taking place in the section on "Asia-Pacific, African & Middle Eastern" (http://forums.motorsport.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=112).

Well observered Observer7. The thread would have been removed by now, if it was a big issue. I think with Sainz, Vatanen competing, both multipe world rally champions, it does have at least some relevence.
