Quite strange for me is that in the regulations (http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/1F07D48DF2867C41C12573AE0053E631/$FILE/CHAMPIONNAT%20D'EUROPE%202008.pdf?Openelement) for the "FIA EUROPEAN RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP" there is nothing about eligible cars

According to this document

The Championship is governed by the FIA
International Sporting Code and its appendices (the
Code), the Rally General Prescriptions (the Prescriptions)
and the present Sporting Regulations specific to the
Championship.
So in some of these should be defined eligible cars for the championship. I haven't looked up in the International Sporting Code but I doubt that it is there. In the present there is nothing. In the General Prescriptions there are eligible cars for the FIA championships and WRC are allowed and probably there should be additional restrictions. So what cars are allowed in the 2008 ERC and where are the regulations about it?

Thats true. On INA Rally evo 9 made from 7 and 8 have problem. On Madeira Travaglia was in different situation. He is great driver, in new season he have chance to fight back in legal car.

urabus-denoS2000
30th January 2008, 16:41
The thing about that evo 7-9 story is that they basically evolve the evo 7 into an evo 9.
As we all know the Lancer Evo model is divide into 3 GENERATIONS
1. evo I-III
2.evo IV-VI
3.evo VII-IX

Every model in one generation has the same shell.
The problem is that they take an evo 7 shell , which is about 70 kg lighter than the evo 9 shell , and they put evo 9 parts on it .
By combining these parts you get a dirty evo 9 which is as heavy without a codriver as an clean evo 9 with a codriver!!!The evo 9 shell is heavier because it is more rigid.
This process is not allowed by FIA

urabus-denoS2000
30th January 2008, 16:44
Most of the tuners dont do that to save weight , but simply to save some money

All of them register in ERC for better start numbers (Kopecky and Kresta in Barum, Italians on 1000 Miglia). And FIA say that U must register in 6 rallyes in ERC. Only register, if you dont want to start thats OK.

He has been making preety fast Clio S1600s and he is known for being a official Renault tuner. Now he also does 207s (Pericos car is also Munarettos,I think he also services Porros Focus 06).

Last season Pucco Grossi, who also rented a Punto S2000 by Griffone had enough of bullsh... be all the time behind best drivers with Gr.Lancer's and they have mesaured the power on his Punto-resoult was 240 hp, and this is a way long from 280-285 of factory cars. But S1600 are old cars,Renault already has a new Clio,so does Peugeot
C2 is at the end of its carrer and it is going to be replaced with a new one
Only the Swift is a relatively modern car

To me it's clear: for 2009 Fontana targets better than this year's 4th place in ERC... ;)

Edit: by the way, is Fontana's 207 the one that will be used by Auriol at Monte-Carlo/IRC09 ??

Yes, Auriol will drive Fontana's car on Monte Carlo Rally.

Another driver that would like to compete in ERC 2009 is Michal Solowow, but at the moment it is only a plan, not a confirmed starting program yet.
