There is a driver now on the list .....
Let's crunch the numbers .....
The biggest points gap possible is 161 points per race (43 entrys)
(1 driver wins & leads the most laps (195 points) vs the driver who finishes 43rd, (34 points)
195 points – 34 points = 161 points
3 races remaining x 161 points each = 483 points
Any driver behind 483 points or more is eliminated from being able to become the champion.
Martin Truex Jr is behind 513 points, so he is eliminated after Atlanta.

01. Jeff Gordon 6201 points
02. Jimmie Johnson –009 points
03. Clint Bowyer –111 points
04. Carl Edwards –261 points
05. Tony Stewart –322 points
06. Kyle Busch –328 points
07. Kevin Harvick –392 points
08. Jeff Burton –400 points
09. Kurt Busch –419 points
10. Denny Hamlin –424 points
11. Matt Kenseth –448 points

Mathematically Eliminated :
12. Martin Truex Jr –513 points

Tune in after Texas & the eliminated drivers list will likely have grown.

Yep, the cane is gathering dust now. :D
I have a slight limp but the muscle reconditioning is progressing well.
My left leg & hip have gained strength, soon the crash will be only a bad memory. :D
================================================== =====================
As to the Championship, after Texas with 2 races left the cut-off will be 322 points.
If you look at the list that takes you all the way to 5th.
Some drivers could gain @ Texas but the gap is so great they are in a deep hole ...
of course if Gordon & Johnson finish behind everyone else @ Texas, it could give a few drivers a chance ...
however the Hendrick machines aren't missing a beat & the odds of failure is possible but not likely. :s

I would not be at all surprised to see positions from 7th on back eliminated after Sunday's race.

Hasn't this senerio taken place before where both Gordon and Johnson lose big in the final couple of races and an unsuspecting champion was named. You know i'm old and facts are cloudy and mixed but i think I dreamt it somewhere.Or did I foresee the future.I sure hope so. Go Bowyer.

there are now 9 drivers on the mathematically eliminated list ..... :s

Championship hopes still "alive" after Texas :
01. 6382 points Jimmie Johnson
02. –030 points Jeff Gordon
03. –181 points Clint Bowyer

Mathematically Eliminated after Texas :
04. –339 points Kyle Busch

06. –373 points Tony Stewart
07. –431 points Jeff Burton
08. –439 points Kevin Harvick
09. –453 points Kurt Busch
10. –454 points Matt Kenseth
11. –524 points Denny Hamlin
12. –524 points Martin Truex Jr

I agree with you T ...
Clint Bowyer is much more likeable to the Dale Earnhardt fans ...
#1. Clint Bowyer drives for Childress which should draw the DE fans to him ...
#2. DE fans probably like Clint Bowyer's down to earth personality ...
#3. Bowyer is an underdog with a shot, what DE fan could not support that ?
#4. The other choices are DE fan nemesis Jeff Gordon & his Hendrick protege ...
#5. From a sponsor standpoint ...
I imagine the DE fans could also like to see the small whiskey company Jack Daniels prevail
(over the giants of Dupont Paint & Lowe's Hardware)

I really hope both Johnson and Gordon get 42nd and 43rd and Bowyer wins tomorrow, It would be awesome to see him win a championship, much better than the PC drivers

I just don't see the need for a chart ...
Clint Bowyer has been eliminated from the equation ...
Bowyer is now 241 points behind, so it is Hendrick's show now. :s

All I can add is .........

ANYONE but Johnson !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/gr8link/erm/7.gif
