It's a marvellous achievement. Two of my friends were there today and will be reporting on it for the magazine I work for — sadly, I couldn't make it myself. Both said it was a wonderful occasion. This truly is a remarkable achievement for aircraft preservation.

As a kid in the 70s I remember going to airshows at RAF Finningley near Doncaster and seeing/hearing these amazing aircraft in action. From memory the party piece of the pilots was to fly at what seemed like impossibly slow speed with the nose slightly skywards and then open the taps and the thing just used to go straight up as the ground shook beneath your feet..amazing!

Having been granted a permit to fly by the Civil Aviation Authority yesterday, Vulcan XH558 will take part in this weekend's airshow at RAF Waddington.
Fantastic!
