Just got back from Condroz. Awesome batle in front!!! :D Busin rolled on SS9 or SS10, not sure, but he rolled!
VW has some issues with the 'collecteur' that goes to the 'echapment' (=exhaust). In the last 3 weeks they had to change it 6 times!!! Some fabrication failure, Loix is struggling with it too. These are parts they recieve from South Africa, so Rene George can't do a thing about it. Nevertheless, what a great battle!
Casier is doing steady, because he wants to finnish afther his off in Swiss. The circumstances are difficult and he think that the first runners must be driving like crazy and of course they are! :D
Thought the regular N4's would be faster compared to S2000.

no they need unfortunatly only one polo, kris rosenberger is not fully fit and he confirmed yesterday that he will not drive at waldviertel rallye, but in the same pressrelease he said also that he will do the full austrian championship next year with a polo 2000, so with andreas waldherr who plans the same we should have 2 polo´s in austria next year...

and about the ammount of cars: andy waldherr told me last week that there are "only" two cars at rene georges but one spare chassis and enough parts to build a 3rd car

I don't believe, it's the dark that is the problem.
I think it's because he drives with a gentlemen co-driver for the first time.
Remember Monte-Carlo 2004, a special in the fog, Duval and Loeb were in the same second and 30 seconds faster than everyone, Märtin was even 50 seconds behind Duval.

In fact from what I've understood(please Haco correct me if I'm wrong)there was a debut of fire on the VW Polo exhausts and Freddy was looking for an extinctor entering in the control too early... :mark:

Seeing the problem, marshalls were about not to give a penalty to Loix, but Duval team threatened the officials to retire of the event if the rules weren't followed... :s

There would not have such problems if in Belgium, they would always follow the rules.
They are so used to bend the rules and escape it that when the rules are followed, they are furious.

Thanks for the explanation, Tom!

Well, I have to say that I would prefer the opposite situation - that Duval retired, because Loix was the hero of this rally for me and without him this event has lost all the excitement. But, on the other hand, rules are rules...

Let's wait to see what our Belgian friends say when they are back from the rally.

HaCo
4th November 2007, 17:34
It's correct, what you told. Loix made a mistake and got a 6 minutes penalty. He passed the yellow board to early, he tells because they wanted to be close to a fire extinguiser. Duval saw them passing and told Loix he wanted to fight it out with him on the stages. But Duval got kicked ass, even made a mistake, got on off. At the next service Duval was cited that 'It isn't fair, I'm sick of it...". If the press articles are right the Duval team even threadened to step out if Loix wasn't sanctioned. The last loop of 3 stages Duval even lost 30 secs, was he slow because he isn't used to the night or was he slowing down because he was sure that Loix would get a penalty. ==> Of course all these infos are from press releases, so I wasn't there to be sure.

IMO they could have given Loix a 1 minute penalty and we would have seen a great battle today, 6 minutes is just to much.

In Roeselare (previous rally of the Belgian Championship), on a Super Special where you have to make several laps, Cols passed the finnish to early (he missed a lap). He got in reversed and did his round anyway. He wasn't punnished at all. If cols was excluded that rally, Loix would have had a much more bigger chance to win the championship.
This rally Loix made a mistake, and got punnished heavily. I don't need to recall that Duval speaks french and that the condroz is in the french part of Belgium.

In the pressrelease VW says they wanted to win in Condroz and with 6 minutes penalty they could no longer win so they withdraw.

Like said here, in Belgium there are to much bending with rules. Sometimes it can be very frustrating like now.

For me Loix was the fastest S2000, he kicked Duval his ass, simple as that. Of course they were close.

]GTA: I join the others in asking for some more info what happened and why You withdraw from Belgian champ for next year? Would You be so kind and let us know more?

ok: driving to the start of stage 10 the Polo was having problems with a broken exhaust close to the engine and Gas fumes were comming inside the car and there was a risk of fire, when he arived at the stage 6 minutes to early Freddy decided to drive in the timecontrol as matter of safety to let the marshall check for possible fire, Duval was waiting for the Time control sign and Freddy was 10 meters in front of him in the control zone, he saw what happened and spoke with Freddy that it was no problem as he understood the reason why and he would like to fight for the win on the stages and not by a decission of stewards, the steward also said it was no problem, he also understood why. they both started their normal times and continue the rally. after the finish of day 2 ( stage 13 ) we heard of a possible penalty, we checked the times and yes we got a 6 minutes penalty !!! we did not agree with the decission of the organiser and on Sunday morning we decided to not start as we could not have got the penalty undone anyway, there was no way to speak with the organiser about it, they only said that if we do not agree to sign a protest on the end of the rally, meaning continue driving with 6 minutes penalty !! Freddy drove the car out of parc ferme into service where it staid..... a sad weekend as we all knew the Polo was the car to have on this rally. concerning 2008 there is no decission taken if there is an official programme in Belgium or not, the issue of this rally does not work positive as you can imagine.

Of course you are not allowed to enter the time control to early or you get a penalty, we all know the rules... this was a matter of safety for the crew and the car only ... the penalty of 6 minutes was in our vieuw to much, he should have got 1 minute or so... thats why we did not agree with the organiser and federation and decide to stop. and why they first say it is no problem and then after decide to still give the penalty ? they should have marked it on the time card inmediately but they did not, the time card was ok.

The thing is that in Belgium people are judged different all the time. I read from a codriver on a forum that this happend more than once in past without penalties and now suddenly Loix is punnished, full six minutes!!!

What punnishment do you normally get when you pass the finnish on a stage and then go back in reverse to complete another lap (because u forgot)?

What punnishment do you get if you are pushed by another competitor in the liaison section?

Why it should be only 1 minute instead of 6? Just because it is better for you?
Couldn`t Loix stop before time control and not get penalty? In that 6 mins he could check himself whats wrong.

And what comes to organiser problem, I can`t say why they work this way. Maybe they finally realised that they must punish Loix and stop bending rules everytime. Let`s hope that other organisers will do the same in future and these stupid rule breakings and bendings will end.

What punnishment do you normally get when you pass the finnish on a stage and then go back in reverse to complete another lap (because u forgot)?

What punnishment do you get if you are pushed by another competitor in the liaison section?

That is extremely dangerous and should be punished really hard. Suspend license for atleast 12 months.

Nothing like that haven`t ever happened in Finland so I can`t give you example from here, but our national federation gives nowadays big punishments even from smaller rule breakings.

Which is good.

That's great news indeed! But I wouldn't be so sure that Snijers will not be able to compete with Porsche in Ypres. I heard rumours that GT cars will be allowed in next year's ERC. Does anybody have any confirmation on that?

By the way... Just imagine - Snijers, Porsche and Ypres... Can anything be more classic? ;)

I went to shakedown today. Alltough not all contenders were present we saw a lot of nice runs of some of the top contenders. Loix was very fast and very efficient in some very slippery places. Also Bouffier and Vouilloz did soime nice runs, even if it was first time for Bryan in this car.
I was a little disappointed by Tsjoen and father & son Kuipers in their Focus WRC's. Tsjoen had an off just in front of us and cutted a lot of mais (corn) in the field. :D Both Kuipers sr and jr were really slow. Unfortunally Snijers, Deferm, Debackere and Casier were not present at shakedown. The first two were testing at another base, prepared by BMA.
Tomorrow real rally is starting with super special stage in the evening. Let's wait and see who will be in front. ;)

Wim_Impreza

After special stage 1 yesterday evening:
1 Chris Van Woensel (Nissan 350Z) 2'40"9
2 Pieter Tsjoen (Ford Focus WRC) +4"1
3 Freddy Loix (Peugeot 207 Super 2000) +5"2
4 Bernd Casier (Volkswagen Polo Super 2000) +6"1
5 Arjen de Koning (NL, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7 - A8) +6"3
6 Nicolas Vouilloz (F, Peugeot 207 Super 2000) +7"8
7 Hubert Deferm (Subaru Impreza WRC S10) +8"2
8 Andy Lefevere (BMW M3 E46) +9"7
9 Patrick Snijers (Subaru Impreza WRC S5) +10"1
10 René Kuipers (NL, Ford Focus WRC) +11"4
11 Bryan Bouffier (F, Peugeot 207 Super 2000) +11"7
12 Kris Princen (Renault Clio R3) +12"4
16 Sébastien Ogier (F, Citroën C2 R2 Max) +14"0
18 Bruno Thiry (Citroën C2 R2 Max) +14"5
24 Marc Duez (Porsche 911 GT3) +15"4
25 Dennis Kuipers (NL, Ford Focus WRC) +15"7
44 Melissa Debackere (Toyota Corolla WRC) +19"6
63 Jan de Winkel (NL, Renault Clio R3) +22"0
67 David Tomek (CZ, Škoda Felicia Kit Car) +22"4
107 Xavier Bouche (Subaru Impreza WRC) +27"9

In this special stage, there was rain for the topdrivers so this is the reason that early starters Chris Van Woensel and Andy Lefevere were fast, because it was dry when they drove. The real rally is now on in Ben-Ahin, SS2. :)

What car is Bouffier driving, Wim said 207, results say Mitsu?

Wim_Impreza
8th November 2008, 08:56
Sorry, that was my fault. Bouffier is driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 Group A from Colsoul Rallysport. It is the same car as Larry Cols drove in 2007 to the Belgian Rally title and Kris Princen in the first part of the year where Princen won with it in the TAC Rally. Bouffier was 3rd last year in the Condroz and first in Group N, so I expect something from him.

They just showed onboard on Belgian television and was really impressive crash. Also Voullioz crashed out of the race, apparently he rolled in second run of the same stage where Fast Freddy crashed this morning. Both Kronos Pug's out of the race, pitty but that is what can happen if you are fighting with a much more powerfull car like Focus WRC07. Anyhow i was impressed by the speed and car control of both Loix and Vouilloz on this really slippery edition of the Condrozrally. They didn't have any serious crash the whole season and now they both crash out of the race on the last rally. Pitty, but that is part of the game. They were really close with Tsjoen in his powerfull Focus. Now only remain the battle for Gr. N victory and hopefully Deferm takes Belgian title. ;)

]In this video with terrible music there is Freddy's crash at the end. Very lucky to escape unhurt...

I'm sorry but I couldn't stand it for longer than 2 minutes and even after those 2 minutes I feel like I was brainwashed. Shouldn't composing such "music" be banned? ;)

Jarek: It's somewhere around 7th minute. You can switch the sound off as I did :D

They do, but if you consider the music I was listening to for the last 2 minutes, you wouldn't accuse me of bad counting :D

And... there are too many people on the second photo. Hiding in the crowd will not make you famous HaCo! It takes the balls of steel to be standing where the thumb-up guy does! Remember the song "Hard As Iron" by Judas Priest? :D

No, please don't remind me of that terrible accident! I was going to buy this car! :D

Lol JarekZ, it's not my purpose to become famous. But, because you're so interested: from right to left, the third stake in the ground, the guy with the blue vest, next to the photographer. I'm holding my phone in my hand, to see what time Kris is doing on the stage, pitty he didn't made it to the finish.
Cheers ;)
