Maybe a little early yet, there are still 2 races to go in MotoGp alone & there might be something from those races that may change an opinion or two. Good idea though, I enjoy seeing how different peoples rating of riders and teams goes.

I dont think much will change in the next 2 MotoGP races so here are my picks

Ryuichi Kiyonari (BSB champ, matured a lot since he was first thrown in MotoGP)
Jorge Lorenzo (250cc champion`(most likely))

Max Biaggi ("rookie" in superbikes, he showed he still is a great rider)

Coolest moment of the year
Toseland saying he will take his leathers off if he does the double at Brands and doing so.

Good call on this thread, the Awards were washed out last year as we were changing over from the old forum to this one.

We'll do a count at Christmas/New Year time to reveal the overall winners.

Top five riders of the year:

1. Casey Stoner (MotoGP champ, what more can be said?)
2. Jorge Lorenzo (250cc Champ, thoroughly dominant, cant wait to see him in GP's next year)
3. James Toseland (WSBK Champ, pretty much dominant when it counted, also cant wait to see him in GP's next year)
4. Kenan Sofuoglu (WSS champ, broke the record for most wins in a year in WSS, nicely done for a typically darn competetive class)
5. Ben Spies (Back to back AMA champ and had to hold off the old dog Mladin in a real thirller that went down to the final race, even the final laps! Again, can't wait to see him in GP's next year, albeit wildcards.)

Top three rookies of the year:

1. Ant West (Both for WSS and MotoGP, (even though he's not 'officially' a rookie in the premier class) has done extremely well in adapting to both bikes after a usual lack-luster 250 privateer start to the season.)
2. Pol Espagaro (125cc, will be World Champion in the next few years, mark my words.)
3. Mika Kallio (250cc, will be champion next year IMO, assuming the KTM is on song from day one.)

Top team of the year:

Ten Kate Honda (WSBK & WSS champions, usual dominant self.)

Top manufacturer of the year:

Ducati or Aprilia (Ducati for their MotoGP achievments, Aprilia for dominating the 125 and 250cc classes, heads and shoulders stuff.)

Best race of the year:

Silverstone or Misano WSS :D Westy showed what a class act he is and smashed the field of regulars, even made Sofuoglu his biatch in the dry ;)

Best championship of the year:

125cc, will be decided this weekend at the last round, can't wait!

Special mention award - however you want to choose that:

Simone Corsi for taking his first even Grand Prix win in 125cc, nicely done son, it was a long time coming.. He could be a threat for the title next year too

Coolest moment of the year:

Tough one. Could be watching Toni Elias man-handle his RC212V around week after week. But im going to have to go with Stoner winning at home, infront of a massive crowd (by P.I standards) and the resuting pit-straight/podium celebrations were a great show of respect. :)

Dani Pedrosa
Ben Spies

Top three rookies of the year
Sylvain Guintoli
Alvaro Bautista
Pol Espargaro

Top team of the year
Gotta be Ten Kate Honda

Top manufacturer of the year
I could say Ducati but I'm going to say Aprilia for their 125 and 250 programs.

Best race of the year
Barcelona MotoGP.

Best championship of the year
125cc GP.

Special mention award - however you want to choose that!
Roberto Locatelli. After the crash he had at Jerez to come back and ride at all is a true indication of the character of the man. Hope to see you next year Loca.

Coolest moment of the year
For me personally it was Turkey and PI to see Joan Olive on the podium. As far as the sport itself goes, probably Sylvain Guintoli leading at Le Mans or the reception Casey Stoner got back home in Oz.

Kenan Sofuoglu

Top three rookies of the year
Alvaro Bautista
Mika Kallio
Sylvain Guintoli

Top team of the year
Yoshimura Suzuki.

Top manufacturer of the year
Ducati MotoGP.

Best race of the year
Valencian 125 - a title on the line, the battle royale between the two contenders and intriguing tactics made it the most exciting race of the year.

Best championship of the year
125.

Special mention award
As mentioned by others, Roberto Locatelli's grit and determination to come back after such an horrific accident was superb. Respect.

Coolest moment of the year
Whilst Casey's win at Phillip Island rates highly and Foret's win to break the Honda/Yamaha WSS duopoly was memorable, the coolest moment for me is this Thomas Luthi save from qualifying at the Sachsenring. Awesome.

I'd call it memorable or coincidental rather than cool. It cost poor old Nori-san a world championship. :(

No, I think the R1 wasn't fast enough in the beginning of the season, that's the reason why Haga didn't win it.. Next to that, the Yamahabroke down a few times

Haga was always thereabouts during the year but was fastest by seasons end, much like Edwards in 2002 which is why the slower start didn't cost him imo. I say that that incident cost Nori the championship because everthing else that happened were down to Haga and Toseland or their teams whereas this was caused by a third party (Biaggi). But of course, this is what often happens in racing and all close titles have but/what if moments during the year.
