Who do think was/is the best driver ever, from all Categories.
(Sorry didn't know ere to place this thread, F1 seemed correct.)
I place S.Loeb and A.Senna Equal No.1
(the both revolutionised the their respective sports.)
J.Fangio ,J.Clark and M Schumacher. (At their peak, none of their competitors was near them).
Peter Brock-(touring Cars)the master of the mountain (hear in Oz).
I use to admire Rick Mears for how he drive a car around the old Brickyard.
All most any rally car driver who has competited at the top level.
Most F1 World Driver Champions.
Jacky Ickx & Derek Bell for his Le Mans victories.
Richard Petty for his Nascar contributions (at least hear in Oz, He Promoted pretty well, to get Australians into Oval racing.)
Alan Jones for introducing Australia to Formula one,
and to Keke Rosberg for winning the WDC against all odds.
There are heaps more but they stand out for me.

Well, When Alan Jones was on top F1 was more or less a dead sport Hear in Oz. Very little coverage through Magazines only. He won the WDC and TV coverage began and interest quickly rose with that.

In those days, the only F1 reports came from Autosport or The Motor which arrived in the newsagency in Adelaide St. Brisbane about one month or 5 weeks after the event. We had no other source to F1 races here in Brisbane.
Since then Brisbane has accepted the wheel, although the people here are still suspicious about the internal combustion engine.
