Tarmac rallies are rubbish for me. And running it twice...my idea of a nightmare LOL
Sorry. I'll be in for the remaining gravel events though

That's too bad Will, There is an opening in the Skoda team if you feel like a one off drive in another car!

Well, 3 runs actually:
3:27.56 Simply awkward
3:22.17 Better, not great
3:18.75 Just a second off our PB-very rough in the last 2 sectors
Looking forward to this one, and hoping for no rain...

WC Rookie Runs First Event
Will, who is on a high after taking 2 consecutive wins in the BRC - Yorkshire and then in the McRae stages event, took part in his first WC event in Spain this weekend, driving a privateer Subaru Impreza that he used in the BRC.
He said after the event, "What an event. Hell redefined. Some of those stages were pure nightmares. I'm no good at tarmac, probably never will be. It was pretty good feeling to be in my first top-class event, staying close to the front runners regularly. But my god the stages are so twisty, picking the right setups are very difficult. Your brakes literally burn."
At the press conference later he gave a report on the stages.
"Stages 1 and 2 were a pretty slow start and I was taking my time to get used to the twists and turns. 3 was bad, really bad, twisty and sheer hell. Hurts your arms very much after about a minute. We took a decent run through stage 4 but 5 we had an overshoot, despite us taking a new setup with sharper steering and stronger brakes.
Stage 6..I won't go into, pure hell on earth...7 and 8 were also quite bad...9 was ok, took a run through, didn't enjoy it but a fair stage, 10 was the most horrific stage I've ever had the mispleasure to drive."
"Leg 2 came and we were definetly a lot faster since we were driving on experience and we were about 5-10 seconds quicker than our previous runs through the stages. Stage 3 and 4 we had some fog which was a little difficult and I put the car on it's side after a nasty rut. 5 I made a small error at a hairpin and hit the wall.
Had another roll on stage 7 but other than that the second leg was rather uneventful."
Will hopes to be able to do a half season in the WRC next year, then possibly step up to a full works drive.

Another asphalt rally washed away by rain, the weather reports were no good so I got caught out on the wrong tyres several times, too bad really as I kept setting new PBs when it finally was dry.

Hi Guys.
Could I join you on Rally Catalunya? I would like to go as privateer with Skoda Fabia from CRT Kopecky.
What about sending times? Just fill in the Time Card? No *.pps file needed?
Ramore
8th October 2007, 15:16
No. Just do the rally in single rally mode and send your times. I think there is no reason for anyone to submit unreal times, since there is no real reward, but self-satisfaction.
tannat
8th October 2007, 15:52
Finished day 1-our stage 1 time was 5 seconds sadrift of our PB :( , perhaps due to a poor setup choice. We remedied the situation on stage 3, and did okay the remainder of the day.
Hopefully, day 2 will go better (and remain dry)...

Keyboard on very simple laptop. Using automatic gear shift. I'v got a stearing wheel at home, but haven't used it for a long time because last two years I'm living mainly in NORway. ;)

I was asking about the keyboard, because I have recently tried to play with a wheel, but it is sort of impossible. May be the game is not really made to be driven by the wheel, or I just need a lot of time for get used to it. But on the other hand, RBR can't be played with a keyboard, so I use the wheel there.
Marcel Haenen
8th October 2007, 22:33
Hi Ramore, I use a MOMO Racing wheel. When you get used to the wheel it is easier to set fast time, but ultimate stage times are roughly the same.
Marcel Haenen finishes Catalunya
This was a hard rally! It was difficult to get really into a rhythm because of the diversity of stages, which all require a slightly different setup to go really fast. We managed to stay out of trouble and went totally on the limit all the way through. We hope we gain enough points on Cyborg_hun to keep our championship hopes alive.

It was a very good rally, good weather, great stage times without bigger mistakes. I think i have a chance to the podium, maybe i can catch the 2nd place.

Day 2 went far better than day 1. I think I had the steering too slow for day 1. You really need a car that can left-right-left quite quickly here.

Huh, I have sent a timecard.
First leg was very variable. Three stages vith a new record, but the rest were full of dings and bad slides. Anyway, the total time was equally my rookie mood. The second leg today morning was something what I have never passed. All the time f**ng rain and I was far away from my first day times. Eight stages were enough, I'm very happy for absence of ss10 under these conditions. So, I hope for non-last place and better driving my Fabia next time.

I am happy with the win, although I had hoped to get more points out of Cyborg_hun. If we look at the times, it will be hard to get some extra points out of cyburg_hun from the tarmac round and we should just hope for the best on the two mud rallies left this season.
