I have just seen that the BTCC will be making a return to Rockingham in April next year.

Be great if the scsa cars could get a supporting spot at this event

Not much chance of a support race but imagine all the V8's on the grass either side of the entrance. A kind of guard of honour to remind people of what the Rock was built for, and a big screen near the Rockingham building showing coverage of the best bits of the series so far.

With Alan Gow quickly looking for the mains plug to yank it out of the wall real quick.......

Yup Rob, and if we were to fire the cars up, folks would realise just how weedy the tourers sound. Even a gridful of trucks is enough to really get the heart rate going, but the V8's, that's something else! ;)

"Even a gridful of trucks is enough to really get the heart rate going"

that's a more realistic(but still a dream) possibility as they've "guested" before. unlikely to be on the oval as that really would highlight how good they are and with rockingham's curfews, running anything in addition to the regular formula is dubious. have they decided what to do to fill the space left by the fbmw yet?

as an aside, alan gow made this reply to a question about why the btcc isn't going to mondello AGAIN in 2008:

"The reason for not going to Mondello in 2008 is the same as for 2007....there is very little enthusiasm from the vast majority of the BTCC teams and support races to go there, mainly due to financial reasons."

so, if the btcc package participants felt this way why did the trucks choose to go this year and what is the likelihood of them going in 2008?

Something to do with a contract perhaps? ;)

That’s good news for Rockingham. Have FBMW been replaced on the support package yet?

Next years BTCC calender looks a right hoot tbh. Ditched what they did this year where they visited 3 tracks twice or whatever, and instead spread them around, and include the brands GP circuit that is a cracking drivers circuit (although was better before they ruined dingle dell!) and perfect really for touring cars!
