View Full Version : Race tracks you have visited

Inspired by the "places you have been" thread, I thought it would be interesting which race tracks you have been attending (this being a motorsport forum after all ;) ).
So, here goes:
A1-Ring 1997-2003 (for F1, F3000 & DTM)
Brno (for MotoGP in 2004, WTCC in 2006 and 2007, will probably go to A1GP there later this year)
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (for 2002 Molson Indy Montréal)
Milwaukee Mile (for 1999 Miller Lite 225)
New Hampshire International Speedway (for 2005 Sylvania 300)
And then there are two that I just have to visit at some time in the future:
Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500
Bristol Motor Speedway for a NASCAR Nextel Cup race

Only UK circuits I'm afraid:
Snetterton (1997-2007 ex. 2001)
Brands Hatch
Silverstone
Donington Park
I'm hoping to add Laguna Seca and Melbourne GP circuit to that list one day!

Bathurst
Winton
Phillip Island
Surfers Paradise - the permanent circuit that is long since deceased
Canberra V8 circuit - again no more
Calder Park
Sandown
Oran Park
Eastern Creek
Wakefield Park
Barbagallo
Adelaide GP circuit
Laguna Seca
Amaroo - gone
Pukekohe
So not too bad for Aussie circuits. Have competed at most of them as well.
My favourite is Bathurst, have plenty of time up there.

I have also been to Le Mans and Spa outside of race meetings, and visited the disused A1-Ring, the then derelict Reims facilities (they've since been spruced up) and the now-derelict Avus grandstands in Berlin. On Sunday, I will go to Goodwood for the first time.

I've been to:
Silverstone - as a spectator and raced on it
Thruxton - did some catering
Castle Combe - raced on it
Oulton Park - worked with a race team
Donington Park - as a spectator
Brands Hatch - raced on it
Prembrey - raced on it
Anglesey -raced on it

I think that's it so far.
I would like to go to other tracks in the UK, plus some tracks in other countries - either to race on them or to spectate.

Can't believe it's possible but I forgot Philip Island! Another Aussie on my list.

30th August 2007, 20:48
The rather unlikely twosome of Mallory Park and Daytona :s The latter only to have a look round and take the track tour, admittedly, but at least I can say I've been to Victory Lane at Daytona
Plus rallying when the RAC used to come through Sutton Park, the Bouley Bay hillclimb and - technically - the Birmingham Superprix course, although again not when the track was in use and it doesn't really count if you live in the city...

Donington on a few million occasions..far too many to count.
Brands Hatch (twice)
Snetterton (twice)

Goodwood (once)
Anglesey (several times)
Oulton Park (twice)
Rockingham (quite a few times)
Bedford Autodrome (twice)

Since i work on track days, most of them are track days ;) Apart from Donington, Rockingham, Brands and Norisring i have been to, to see some racing.

In No particular order:
Mosport (first race, 1971 Canadian GP, I was 6 and Jackie Stewart won in the rain).
Mosport Oval
Shannonville Motorsport Park, both in its original config and the new version.
Canadian National Ex Grounds for Indy/GP course and second incarnation of the oval.
Cayuga Oval
Peterboro Speedway (oval)
Watkins Glen (NASCAR 3times)
Sunset Speedway (oval)
Mt. Tremblant/St. Jovite (no race, just dropping cars off for test day)
Trois Riveires street course (outstanding event, beautiful people, great party)
Charlotte Motor Speedway (Lowe's didn't rename it yet)
Daytona (worked for T and S for the 24 hours, worked 14 hours total.)
St. Petersburg Street course around the dome for Trans AM (not the current venue)
Rally of the Tall Pines Canadian Rally...all over the damned woods freezing my tail off
Barrie Ontario - GP For karts on the streets
Halifax NS street race for the now defunct AIS series.
Places I want to go: Indy, Road America, Bristol, Richmond, Mid Ohio, Montreal Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Silverstone, Spa, and...the two that I would love to get a ride around: Nurburgrings old course, and Mt. Panorama aka Bathurst (god knows these are the most incredible monsters left in racing now)
