Next weekend the best European Champ. is back :)
This rally count for many champs. for example Mitropa Cup (http://www.mitropa-rally-cup.de/index.htm), thats the reason why Herman Gassner and Jiri Tosovsky will enter on this Rally... currently (http://www.mitropa-rally-cup.de/results/driver.htm) Gassner is 2nd behing Tosovsky on Mitropa Cup.
Alessandro Perico will debut with a new 207 S2000 (http://www.friulmotor.com/images/gare2007/loghi_testi/perico-carrara02.jpg) from Friulmotor, he will run with Pirelli tyres.
Umberto Scandola will be on the rally too, off course with a Punto S2000, I suppose the Punto will be from Trico Motor Sport (http://www.rallydelsalento.com/foto%5Cps1_scandola.JPG) as he used in previous Rally del Salento.
Once again Uwe Nittel will enter in a CIR rally, he isn't young anymore and everybody know that he can't fight for a TOP place in the stantings, but I still believe he will be one of the most spectacular driver in action next weekend.. as he used to do in his good old days driving for Mitsubishi :)
Andreucci won the rally in 2006.. let's if he is able to do that again this year.

Alessandro Perico will debut with a new 207 S2000 from Friulmotor, he will run with Pirelli tyres.
Why not with Twister Corse?
Madeira
30th August 2007, 15:48
we never knew the reason which determined the end of the connection between Perico and that Twister... however in this rally Simone Bertolotti will use the 207 S2000 prepared by twister..

According to Claudio of Rallylink weather would be absolutely lovely this morning :)
But yesterday during shakedown there would have been heavy rain due to thunderstorm :mark:

I see from the start list Simone Campedelli (Fiat Punto JTD), Roberto Casarotto (Citroën C2 S1600), Fausto Chiappio (Renault Clio S1600), Davide Medici (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9) and Gianpaolo Boria (Renault Clio RS) are all absent. Some nice cars and interesting young drivers missing :(

The rally has started, and on the first stage the S2000 cars are clearly quickest. Basso has won the stage 3,6 s ahead of Rossetti and 12,4 s ahead of Scandola. Andreucci is quickest Group N driver, but already 17 seconds behind.

Scandola has to pay for his attempts to keep up with the times of Basso and Rossetti and goes off on stage 3. Rossetti beats Basso on this stage, but only just.
After the first loop of three stages Basso (Fiat) leads Rossetti (Peugeot) by 6,9 seconds. Andreucci (Mitsubishi) is still the best Group N car, but he's already 41,3 seconds back, and only 0,8 s ahead of Aghini (Subaru). After a good start - 7th on stage 1 - Elwis Chentre (Mitsubishi) has lost a lot of time with a puncture on stage 2 and more trouble on the next stage. Perico was a little slow out of the blocks with the Friulmotor 207 S2000 but is now up to 7th behind Longhi (Subaru) and Cantamessa (Mitsubishi).

How is it possible to see Longhi and Aghini so high in the leaderboard on tarmac event? :)

Yes, they are playing equal game with the Mistubishi for the first time this year I think....

Scandola went off because he has lost the communication inside the car with his co-driver and after that the Guido D'Amore has started do give the road notes by hands indications, so the result it was an accident...

Great duel between Basso and Rossetti on this leg, gaps between them and the rest of field is incredibly huge
I was expecting Andreucci to stll be the fastest GrN guy and not far from the S2000s
I hope tomorrow Alex Perico will again improve position(currently 6th overall) :bounce:

What is wrong with Ucci ? In second part of the first day he lost time against Longhi&Aghini, I hope he recovers tomorrow. Nice for Perico, he is not far from top positions.
U.Scandola is like Duval in WRC-always fast, but he does not see finish of the race often....

SS7 started :)
Scandola will reenter o rally under super rally rules.. as well as Uwe Nittel
By the way, Scandola is running with a Punto from Nocentini, the same as Fuster used in Spain in the first Spanish champ. events

Rossetti in maximum attack wins the stage and know is leading with a small cap over Basso.
Ago, was the best conventional GR N and jump to 3rd place.
Andreucci pass Perico in overall standings...
Perico is being a little bit disappointing with this 207...
Basso and Rossetti are running a rally apart from anyone else... the gap between them and the other is really huge and rally isn't over yet...

Rossetti much slower on stage 8. Basso leading again by 10,1 sec.

So, after SS10 Basso is on the lead.. with a comfortable margin...
Rosseti lost a lot of time, I don-t know if it was some problems or something..
Aghini is going very well and it looks like he will get his first podium of the season. It's nice to see that Subaru Italy is "back on rallying" :s mokin:
Unfortunately Longhi retired due to an off he had..

Yesterday I took a visit to mountains around Udine to see stages of Alpi Orientali: It is almost unbelivle how big is the gap beetwen first two (S2000) and others. If you observe carefuly, top drivers in N4 are fighteen like hell, they break on the same spots as S2000,especaily Evo 9 has an enormus torque-it looks like a few years old WRC car, realy amazing! From this point I can not undrestant this gap.
About Perico-he made a big mistake in front of me, hit the wall, he was very lucky not to go off the road.
Rossetti had a puncture on SS8.
I saw Scandola twice and he had always some problems wit the car...
At the end-nice stages, nice, warm weather, not a lot of spectators. Thanks Italy!

That puncture in stage 8 might have cost Rossetti the chance to fight for the win. It enabled Basso to take a relatively comfortable win.
Basso now leads Rossetti by 9 points in the Italian Championship with three rounds to go (of which one is on gravel). However, in the case that Rossetti wins all three he'll end up with 70 points (best 8 results to count) and Basso can only equal that, making Rossetti champion with one more win. So Rossetti knows what he has to do :D But one more win for Basso in one of the remaining rounds would make him champion.
Points after 8 of 11 rounds:
1 Giandomenico Basso (Fiat) 62
2 Luca Rossetti (Peugeot) 53
3 Paolo Andreucci (Mitsubishi) 52
4 Luca Cantamessa (Mitsubishi) 30
5 Andrea Aghini (Subaru) 28
6 Piero Longhi (Subaru) 22
7 Matteo Gamba (Mitsubishi) 17
8 Andrea Dallavilla (Mitsubishi) 15
9 Andrea Perego (Mitsubishi) 11
10 Alessandro Perico (Renault/Mitsubishi/Peugeot) 9

Seems that Ralliart have done after the conclusion of the rally a protest about Subarus. I don't understand very well, but it looks question of intercooler refrigeration (dall'utilizzo di ghiaccio-Ice?) which explains the improvement that we have seen in this rally in the ralliart version...
