microsol decal solution? Probabely explains why they were hard to fit. How do you use that stuff

That Manta looks great!! Some problems on the top because the decals size are not the best for this Ixo, but much better than the Vitesse one. Congratulations!!

As a new year's purppose I began to make some masking works, here there's the first, my favourite car from my favourite rallydriver when he won his first spanish tarmac rally championship in 1985 (also my last Scalextric model). There some young mistakes that I hope to improve as many as I do. The second maybe will be made in a week time.

That Manta looks great!! Some problems on the top because the decals size are not the best for this Ixo, but much better than the Vitesse one. Congratulations!!

Who was the seller and if you dont mind what did you pay for it?
pm me the price if you want

Decal solution brush a bit on the part of the model before applying the decal then when the decal is on set it and low speed hairdryer it and brush lightly into the lines of the model
Then put a model of solution across the decal and this helps it to set properly.

In 2006/2007 there was supposed to be a Spanish Rally Series produced in Spain entitled 'Campeones de Rally' (or 'Rally Champions').

I have seen plenty of evidence of the list below being posted on various rally / model forums over the last couple of years, but no real evidence to say that the complete series was produced.

I am particularly interested in No 56 in the series, and here is the full list of what the series contained. Any help or information would be very much appreciated...

About your MG, Patxi Arbelaiz's one was also one of my favourites on the pre-release list, and cant understand why (having the mould) they had refused to launch the model... And they had launched really unpopular models.

About your MG, Patxi Arbelaiz's one was also one of my favourites on the pre-release list, and cant understand why (having the mould) they had refused to launch the model... And they had launched really unpopular models.

Absolutely agree with ManuelZGZ, the most unpopular changes were the MG, the Audi, the Clio and the Fiesta XR2. But the worst is that for the two first models there's not a reasonable explanation, because Ixo, and also Altaya, has the die-cast base

No doubt about the appeal of the livery... The livery... is 75% missing!!!! The pic is taken on a gravel rally, and Patxi has sanded the car against all odds in the way !

Livery is mainly white with blue stripes and greyhound dogs, the colour of Bicicletas Laiz, the Mountain Bike's Factory owned by Patxi Arbelaiz himself.

I am glad you said that it is pre-painted 'feresc13', because CBCom have made a mistake because the black should be at the front of the car, blending to the grey at the back! At least you know that it isn't your mistake!

The black is supposed to be the smoke coming from the flames around the front of the car - see below...

Not in 96 from memory as the event wasnt in the full WRC due to rotation the event went straight into the woods. I know I'm being picky and it's still a nice model!

The original vents I was going to make on the bonnet has been taken off in favour of these two new ones, the Roof vent has been placed and when glued on it will be all primered again.
The cage is from a Peugeot 307 wrc model which with little modifying goes straight in.
The new spoiler is from a Lotus Exige model

Excellent miniature! I'm waiting that HPI releases the Catalunya version, where Sainz used Pirelli tyres instead of the Michelin ones (in the way of searching something different to justify the purchase :p )

Well and here I'm again with my home-jobs, the car is not yet finished, but it will be difficult to finish, on rear bumper it shuold be a red and big CUJ OIL logo and in front windshield there should be two 7·Up logos, but until I'm not able to build decals for my owm... Will remain like this.

Interesting news from Corgi. Hopefully they will decide to give the cars more detailed interiors with cages etc as at the moment the models lack a certain something for the price charged:


Corgi has secured an exclusive agreement with Colin McRae Motorsport Ltd to launch a fitting tribute to the 1995 World Rally Champion. This collection of 1:43 scale die-cast replica models will serve as a lasting memorial to one of the most flamboyant and successful rally drivers ever to grace the World Rally Championship Stage.

The ‘Colin McRae Tribute Collection’ will feature fourteen of the most important competition cars of Colin’s career. Eleven of the bespoke cars created for the range will require new tooling with an investment of nearly £250,000 – which highlights Corgi’s long lasting commitment to this range and also demonstrates their desire to branch out into producing more modern die-cast models.
Highlights from the range due out in 2009 include:

The 707 LHT Mini Cooper – This model not only celebrates Colin McRae’s first ever championship win aged 16 in the West of Scotland Autotest Championship but also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Mini, another Great British icon (In stores now).

The Talbot Sunbeam TI – A fantastic reproduction of Colin’s first ever rally car from the 1986 Scottish Rally championships (Coming out November 2009).

This kit is produced by MCcollection (italia).
I'm drawing the decals for them, so if you have any ideas for other versions, you can contact them (they have a website) or contact me and i will ask them.
They also realised the Skoda fabia s2000 (test version, barum rally 2008 and montecarlo 2009).

Finally I founded their website, nowadays Google isn't able to find the information as fast as it was...

Well they are resin kits... I never worked on them. I always worked on metal cars....



Building resin is a nightmare for me:

- Remove flash of the mouldings
- Bad fitting of pieces
- Bubbles in the surfaces that request to cover and sand
- Car windshield and windows in acetate plastic, hard to cut and hardest even to right fit

I keep more comfortable on hyper detailing diecasts, applyng paint and decals transkits, and so...

And remember, resin kits are expensive, too expensive in most cases, and if you dont enjoy building, and don't have an expert' level to achieve a nice result, it's better for me don't play these league...

PD I read you hate detail the cars rims, never tried to remark the rim detail with diluted Tamiya's smoke acrilic colour?
Many times the result is more realistic than painting the axle cover and the rim screws "comic style".

1/18 or 1/43, the perpetous dilema. 1/18 Highly detailed cars, but big ones. 1/43 a large avaibility of different models and versions (and in a flat of about 70 square meters you can put 700 models :p ) but some details losed (not for HPI)

Being respectuous for the 1/18 collectors, the biggest scale makes for me an special effect: cars at 1/18 look usually more "toys". At this scale, a master piece (Kyosho or so) is wonderful, but not all 1/18 are so well built.

And about space requested, range of models availlables, more difficult to find material to transkit models...

IMHO 1/43 it's THE SCALE.

Yes it does. Normally the Spark group die-cast, Bizarre and Spark, come with the tobacco decals (the 2 Celica TCT that I have, also came with Marlboro decals for the rally plates), but beware of buying cheap Spark cars on eBay. I bought the Nissan 240 driven by Mehta on eBay and it came without them.
