In this country I dont think it really matters which of the main parties you vote for, they are all pretty much the same

Indeed. Tony Blair had to abandon socialism and leftism to make Labour electable, and now David Cameron is moving the Conservatives away from the right wing, leaving us with two fairly centrist parties, led by two extremely uninspiring politicians. And they wonder why most people don't even vote!
