Unlike Brands, I'm already below the time needed to post on Codies so let's see if I can finally score a point in qualifying.

Should be able to get into the low 17s, but I've a busy gaming schedule this week and may not have another opportunity
Would love to hear min/max speeds from Adam or Peter, as well as setup advice....
No doubt having visited this track for the TRD3 DTM helped a great deal

The Ford feels better to drive on this track than even the DTM cars ! (apologies to the Euros, lol) I still feel that I can improve my time by hitting a few of the corners better and tweaking the transmission.
Peter Vuko
19th August 2007, 01:11
Qualifying is starting to get serious at Hockenheim. J.B. & J.Shell yet to put their cars on the track. Vuko Jnr may be a doubtful starter with contract problems at the moment! The top 4 times so far:
1.Vuko Snr......1m.15.46
2.Sloma..........1m.15.57
3.BobZee........1m.15.93
4.tannat.........1m.17.83
I agree with BobZee that the V8's, while a little slower, are more comfortable to drive around this course than the DTM's.

The V8's always seem a bit softer when compared with the DTM cars.

Only 0.18 seconds separate the top 4  I'm desperate to get ahead of Bobzee because of the race for 2nd in the championship. The key corners for a good lap around here are turn 2 and the left hander at the the Mercedes grandstand.

tannat - I was going to see what my top speed was but I have my eyes fixed on the braking point at the hairpin so I have not seen it. However i reckon it's around 184mph.....

Britain is a very confused country when it comes to metric and imperial.
Road signs are in miles, the speedo's in our cars are in MPH, but groceries are sold in kilograms :s

I predict a very competitive race this round! the top 1/2 of the field are all competitive with each other, as are those of us in the 'other' 1/2 of the field.
JB, Bob, Vuko, Sloma - free set ups except 100% hard tires, start at back, one mandatory pit stop for 10 laps worth of fuel
me, tannat, RI, dcr - free set up, front of grid, no pit stops.
sound good to everyone?

What an excellent qualifying Rd!! The last few days & hours were really competetive. We had 4 different drivers on pole at different stages! Adam Sloma again showing the way but Vuko Snr almost pipping in the last ten minutes of qualifying. Both drivers managing to get into the 14's - that's fast!!! BobZee just behind them but managing in the last session to beat his arch rival J.B. Vuko Jnr only managed to have one quick session - his time not appearing on Codies because he has to play on my profile for V8 International because he has not opened up this series on his own profile but I can vouch for his time! Details for the race will go up in about 30 mins.

once we drove to the gulf of mexico in Florida to stay at the beach for a few days. we left after work on friday, planning to drive all night at get there saturday morning.
about 3 in the morning, in the middle of rural alabama, my stomch starts hurting REAL bad. finally, we passed a hospital and I decided to stop in the emergency room of this little country hospital.
diagnosis - gas.

you talking to ME?
YOU talking to ME?
I wouldn't do that ;)
I just didn't have much time to practice, much like yourself Mr T.
see, I pretty much only have tuesday & wednesday nights to do my racing, but I learned the hard way that if I qualify on tuesday nights then post the time when I get here, to work, on wednesday morning it ends up being approx 90 minutes late and thus will not be accepted by the series' regulators.
so, I had just a bit of time monday and thought I better do what I could with it! I don't know if I could've gotten more out of the car or not. I guess I could have but you never know. I sure knew I couldn't close the gap to everyone in the 1:15s.
then last night I spent all my time learning to do 7 laps in the F3 car at Zandooft without wrecking. BTW never quite learned how to!
I am flatter that you think so highly of my driving prowess though. but remember, you have been nipping at my bits pretty regulary lately, oh speedy one.

Time really does get in the way of performance, and I daresay there is a practice effect to gaming. This is the reason why cossie had those limitations on the GTs last year.

of course some poles - I mean people - just have something that no amount of practice would give the likes of me
people like me & you might do better if we ran less races but practiced more for each one, but I like running lots of cars.
and of course, I do still manage to find time to practice the "pit out lap" in my F3 car for like 30 minutes

ran my race over the weekend. pretty uneventful, starting at the front and no pit stops or anything. pretty much like running 10 qualifying laps. had lots of qualifying lap times too.
that is, until I started to come up on the lapped traffic! I got past the first 1/2 of the field OK but the other 1/2 slowed me up a bit.
oh yeah, and I ran a Holden too. I accidently got into one for practice and I ended up liking it! when I realized what happened I switched back to the Ford but I was faster in the Holden so I just kept with it.
oh yeah, and just kidding about ever coming up to lap any traffic

Just a reminder that Rd 9 times for Hockenheim are due in Wednesday by midnight. I have only received one time so far - dcr22B's. This should be a closely contested Rd with the backmarkers using 100% hards & the front starters probably being able to use a much softer tyre such as 45- 50% mediums! Get those times in!!!

Well done to Sloma - his first Rd victory for the season! Very close between BobZee & Vuko Snr for 2nd & 3rd. The next 5 positions so close!!! Good to see Shell put Vuko Jnr & J.B behind him!! Big efforts by both tannat & dcr22B. This handicapping seems to be working. Well done guys! I'll put up the standings later on - there could be some changes!!!!

I'm really happy with that to be honest! Found it a hard track when qualifying as the corner cutting was a wee bit harsh but was managing to carry more speed through turn one in the race!

maybe someone put a mysterious powder in his fuel tank.
maybe it was his band friends. maybe they had some mysterious powder on them, and the cops were coming, and they needed to quickly get rid of the mysterious powder. so maybe they put it in their new "friend's" fuel cell.

Wouldn't that give me speed :erm:

I still can't believe that less that 3 1/2 seconds seperated 4th - 8th! that's nuts.
and that means that tanny was only 3 1/2 seconds out of 4th! you go man!

Hadn't noticed-thanks for pointing that out.
Bit of a hollow finish in light of the handicap...

Hey gang, do we want to continue with the handicapping in the enduro's?? I do!! It's made the series far more interesting & closer. Sandown is a difficult track - I 'll have to think a lot about this one!

enduros????
what I like about the handicapping is that if a driver does really well - better than they usually do - they'll be rewarded with a high finish.
and the way you've done it, it's not affecting the championship because the championship leaders are running together, the mid-fielders like me are running together, etc.
but there's close racing thoughout the pack, so it's fun no matter what!

I think that handicapping should be based on the last race results :p
