MG is back, coupled with MSD(Hyundai's ex-developer)! No WRC but S2000 is good enough for me! I remember when MG's S1600 drove in BRC some years ago... it was my favourite car. :) I hope I can see more of that good ol' black and green livery. :)

When is it supposed to be homologated? If they have already been testing the car, will we see it in action this year already?

Well, many questions in mind but lets wait and see for more information.

Yeah a new manufacturer is all well and good, but look at the car they're using - it's hardly a new model is it? I remember the BRC in 2002 and the S1600 version. But good luck to them anyway!!

But huge work to do to contend Fiat and Peugeot though :mark:

Yes it's not this year's car, but then again MG probably don't have the resources to develop a whole new model, do they? The article said that they have been working on this project for 18 months - should be sufficient time to build a proper rallycar - or...? And S2000, even tough not a WRC, is still not the same as the street version.

The way FIA plans the future rules, it might be WRC car.

Those Nat Barett pics don't have anything to do with the S2000 as far as I can gather...

Seriously! The b**** can't even edit her own wesite:

My co-driver this season is a Finn, Aki Maaranen, and I am looking forward to learning some more Finnish to ass to me limited vocabulary.http://www.nat-u-rally.co.uk/start.asp

Anyway, I'm glad that MG are back. I also like the last statement from the first article. Super 2000 will be the future of the World Rally Championship!

It's a great pitty if we look deeper !!! :mark:

Rally world really needs another Michelle Mouton(a lady able to be as fast as the fastest guys at the highest level of that motorsport), but it's clear it will never be Nathalie Barratt anyway... :(

Please, I wish Jennie-Lee Hermansson in that MG S2000 !!! :D :D

Didn't the old MG had (before they went bankrupt) a project like this? As far as I remember, Freddy Loix should have been the driver at that time.

MG went bankrupt and were purchased by a Chinese Company, new MG cars are going to be made in China and Assembled in Britain.

So I guess we can say hello to the 1st Chinese Manufacture in high level of Rallying.

BGM is Bill Gwynne Motorsport. They've taken over the selling of the cars.

The only reason that im aware of that Natalie Barratt is associated with this is because she drove a S1600 ZR a couple of years ago, testing was being carried out by Ian Gwynne who was also the Hyundai test driver.

This week's Auto-Hebdo magazine writes that french driver Alexandre Bengué could run last tarmac IRC event(Valais - Switzerland)in the MG S2000 !!!!

But careful, it wouldn't be the first time infos given by Auto-Hebdo to be wrong or not partially true(for example to transform rumour in news)... :mark:

If it's right that would be fantastic :D

It doesn't matter if it wins or not, it colours up the field, that is important!!

As mentioned in a previous post Ian Gwynne will be giving the car it's competition debut on the Plains rally in the UK on the 22nd September. It's a National event with some WRC machinery so it will be interesting to see how the team fairs...

Does MSD have a homepage where we can follow the development ?

Or is there another place to do this ?
