With Montoya on the front row, he is poised to become the first driver in history to win 2 different races in 2 different series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I think this would be a monumental accomplishment.

Montoya - Indianapolis 500 Champion
- Brickyard 400 Champion (maybe)
(had the opportunity to win Indy in F1 Also)
I don't think any other driver has ever been in this position.

He will be the first driver to race in 3 different series at IMS, right?

Certainly 3 major series. They had US F3, Formula BMW (& and some Ferrari spec series) for several years with the USGP, and add in Indy Pro. It's possible someone has run in 3 different series already and no one noticed.

Well I think Tony Stewart ran some IROC races there.

But in terms of major series, this is new.

Forgot IROC, at the least he ran '01 (came in 2nd) & '02 (11th) races there. Don't have records earlier, at easy reach.

Woohoo!!! JPM on the front row :D

Lets be realistic though, its extremely likely he'll be passed quite quickly by several much faster Chevy's. It would be fantastic if that doesn't happen of course, but it has before. And unless the Dodge has made some remarkable strides, I see it happening again.

But he will hold a new record just for starting in Nascar today.

Forgot about IROC also. Dale Jarrett has won the Brickyard 400 and IROC at IMS.
