2008 Formula One calendar released by the FIA on Friday:

March 16 Australia (Melbourne)
March 23 Malaysia (Sepang)
April 6 Bahrain (Sakhir)
April 27 Spain (Barcelona)
May 11 Turkey (Istanbul)
May 25 Monaco
June 8 Canada*
June 22 France
July 6 Britain (Silverstone)
July 20 Germany (Hockenheim)
Aug 3 Hungary (Hungaroring)
Aug 24 Europe (Valencia)**
Sep 7 Italy (Monza)
Sep 14 Belgium (Spa-Francorchamps)
Sep 28 Singapore**
Oct 12 China (Shanghai)
Oct 19 Japan (Fuji)
Nov 2 Brazil (Interlagos)

so 1/2 the races in Europe. 1/3 in asia and 1/6 sprinkled elswhere
most dissapointing is to see Indy out, to see Hockenheim there (IMO the worst track) and such severe gaps between races.

There are only 3 back to backs, but 4 3-week breaks during the season. Why?
they should just add 2 more races and complete the package with a solid 20 race schedule.

I suggest,
a) one from the following US GP, Mexico or Argentine GP,
and
b) one from the following San Marino, Portugal, Austria
btw how are the tracks in Finland, with 2 1/2 drivers from finland, I'm sure they would pack the house. and would fit the week before the German GP

Why the **** isn't Suzuka on there? Thats a proper racing circuit.

Fuji owned by Toyota, Suzuka owned by Honda. The switch was announced last year within a few days of Toyota dropping out of GPR which was threatening to start up their own F1 series in '08, which was a tipping point to keep it from happening. Hmmmmmm?

no surprises there.

I think Hockenheim is a better track than Nurburgring, so I'm OK with that, although I'd rather have Zandvoort there.

Can't Suzuka be back as a "Pacific GP", please!!!

There were two 4-weekers this year so the calendar looks pretty good.

Not surprised to see Imola go, but i would rather see Suzuka back on there.

I was thinking about a road trip to Monza again, but a road trip to Valencia crossing that cool new bridge in France does sound very appealing. :D

Yeah, I guess the planned rebuilding of the pit lane never went off? Or is it being done but something else is amiss?

Oh well, no more USGP so close to home. I hope Montreal can stay on the calendar as they were splitting their fee with Indy.
