As with the BTCC models thread....

I've got the Priaulx Macau '05 car on pre-order. Just wondered if anyone had got hold of one yet?

Alfa Fan
5th December 2006, 19:53
Its coming soon. Should be available in the UK within the next two weeks.

Good stuff - its meant to be an xmas present to myself so sooner the better! Want to make a solid start on my WTCC collection which currently stands at a rather pitiful one!

Just as an aside, I'm curious about the Lacetti models doing the rounds. Has anyone got one of these and what are they like quality wise?

Is it going to be made by Spark or Minichamps or someone else? But now that Honda is all but confirmed, I wonder if someone will now produce a 1/43 model for them?

kmchow
8th December 2006, 20:53
Someone has just released a 1/43 WTCC Chevy Lacetti already!!! If you go to the premiere online auction website (you know who I'm talking about!) and type WTCC, you will bring up the model!! But at 26GBP, I think it's a bit too dear for me.

From memory, before the forum lost all it's history. I'm sure AlfaFan said he has one?

Could be wrong!

Alfa Fan
8th December 2006, 21:08
I have one on order, at 43r.com. I've seen them on ebay, but I prefer to buy from retailers.

PDS
8th December 2006, 22:03
Sorry AlfaFan, I thought it was you who said they have one!

Can you give me a link to where you are buying yours from? I have not been able to find a decent picture of one yet!

Alfa Fan
8th December 2006, 22:18
The site I bought it from did not have an image of it (yet).

Here's where I bought it from (43r.com)

http://www.43r.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4400

I have however, seen this image:

http://i16.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/7b/f3/b0dc_1_sbl.JPG

IMO it looks alright. Slightly too much like a toy model maybe, but its the only Chevvy WTCC model available anywhere, so I'll take it!

Plus it's a Menu car! I know people that collect Alan Menu cars. I have all his Renault Laguna's.

Worth considering!

I have seen alot off these Chevy models on eBay, although i have looked i must admit i am not yet temtped by one. They do look pretty smart though.

I have also noticed quite a few 2006 models are now on eBay, trouble is like Alfa Fan suggests when they are new its probably better to go to a retailer and buy them, no bargains on eBay just yet.

Alfa Fan
8th December 2006, 23:53
I prefer a retailer for many reasons:

1. Security
2. You KNOW you will get the model
3. They always arrive in top condition (at least in my experience)

daz90
8th December 2006, 23:57
Thats very true, but they are dearer most of the time.

I have only had two bad experiences with eBay models so far (touch wood) in 2 or 3 years that i have been a member (i forget how long), once the model didn't turn up, i chased it up but lost out. And the other was recently ish, i bought a 94 BTCC Harvey Laguna from a seller in Frnace, he sent me the wrong one (Menu) which i already had, i told him about this and he corrected his mistake by sending me the one i bought originaly. I got lucky too, he never asked for the wrong car back, two for the price of one.

Marchetti's Alfa Romeo has reappeared on ebay now (having disappeared for a few days). Hope it arrives with the UK diecast retailers soon, as its one I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection.

Meanwhile, the Macau 2005 cars of Priaulx and Huisman arrived today. Both are of excellenet quality and are really good additions to my collection :)

Can't be long until my Chevrolet Lacetti arrives now either. Expect it will arrive some time this week.

Just picked up a 1/43 Priaulx Macau BMW. The Huisman one looks sooo plain.
I guess I have to wait a year or two for my cheap Chevy Lacetti. RIght now 25 GBP is just too much.

My 1/43 Priaulx Macau BMW just came. Overall, the car looks good except the BMW roundels seemed to be a bit poorly applied? How does everyone else's look? But I'm afraid to try and fix it as I may make it worse or damage the decals more?

Never seen a Huff 1/43 model, although i pressume he means a Chevy Laccetti diecast model?

Same as Alain Menu's.

As for that Scalextric Honda, the detail looks pretty good, but i would have doubts over the quality of the plastics, same goes for the Seats by Scalextric. And i also have my doubts over the scale of them, 1/32 ish, not sure how they would relate in terms of size (mm) too 1/43. Like you all, i wish Spark or someone similar would just build a Diecast of the WTCC grid, including the Seats, Hondas aswell as the current set of models they produce.

Well, I guess if position/pose the cars carefully enough, you could take action shots of the 1/32 and 1/43 cars together!

Minichamps have some nice cars coming out, wouldn't mind a couple of the new 1/43 road car models ie a mk3 Ford Escort.

I also saw (breifly) Minichamps seem to be producing some BMW WTCC models, not sure what year but there is a Priaux (sp?) model.

Nothing under Spark though, then again i presume the 2006 cars are allready out, and obviously 2007 is as yet unknown to anyone.

Why put a Volvo 740 with your ST Volvo collection?

daz90
20th February 2007, 17:17
More to the point why on earth would you want a Volvo 740 anyway? ;)

I added a Ford Sierra Cosworth the other day to my collection, not quite WTCC but i do believe it ran in the European Touring cars/Nurburg ring 24 hr, 1988, Claus Ludwig (Texaco). Been after one for ages, its not made by Minichamps though, but by Trofue, i now have to Sierra RS Cosworths by Trofue and both are very nice. But not quite as good as Minichamps.

I happen to own one of those old Volvo 740 wagons so I thought it would be cute to put them together, was planning to paint it the same burgundy red as my "real" one! :D But $61US is quite a bit of money, seems to be missing the right hand side mirror too. I was expecting it would be a cheap Ebay closing price too.

daz90

No instructions for it either.

$61 US, thats about £32 i think, to be honest thats the sort of money you might have to spend to buy a BTCC resin model, probably not a road car thats not complete.

Just a shame Minichamps has taken over distribution of Spark models, thus its really slow now!

I'm slowly filling in the gaps in my collection. Not sure if it will ever be complete though. There's

13 Spark BMWs (difficult to get hold of now)
5 Spark Alfas (difficult to get hold of now)
2 Minichamps BMWs (reasonably easy to get hold of)
2 1:18 Kyosho BMWs (not out yet)
11 IXO/Altaya SEATs (reasonably easy to get hold of)
2 Norev Chevrolets (available on dread for rip-off prices)
4 AutoArt 1:18 BMWs (expensive to get hold of)

that have been released/announced to my knowledge that I don't have in my collection. (Not including duplicates where another manufacturer has released the model in the same scale previously).

Picked up the Yvan Muller Leon from 2008 in World Champion packaging for £17 at Knockhill. Rather pleased with that as it retails for £30+ usually. Got it from the Car Crazy stand, which 9 times out of 10 is overpriced, but has some good offers on now and again. I was after Tarquini's Valeo sponsored version too, but they only had Gene's.

Yeah it was Norev that pulled the Muller Cruze. Could be because of lack of 09 sales. I'd put this down to not enough retailers having it. GM Store on ebay (and at races) and Dread seem to be the only ones, both charge too much IMO. If they were £35 i guess most people on the forums would buy one. The 'monopoly' seems to have backfired! Pretty much, there's a few pieces I still need from various seasons, but I have the vast majority of them, only short of 2 WTCC models that have ever been made, and I intend to pick them up in the next few months. Some of the older ETCC Alfas and BMWs are very tricky to get now (I have to get brand new in box examples - which makes it even harder!)

The IXO SEATs are very nice, I'll be interested to see if they do the 2010 ones, but I doubt it.

I would have thought you would be better off using the Norev model as a base for the BTCC car, as it is based on the non turbo version of the car. I guess the Spark will have the extra intakes on the front.

AND?? How does it compare??

Alfa Fan
17th December 2012, 23:10
AND?? How does it compare??

Sorry. The Spark version is much weightier, as would be expected. The Spark slightly edges the Norev in terms of finish as well, the decals, and more noticeably, their application is better on my Sparks. Spark capture the reflective outlines around the Chevrolet badges which is missing from the Norev, and if its something that concerns you on 1:43, the interior looks marginally better on the Spark. At least on my example of the Rob Huff one, the wheels were stuck to the base and I was seriously concerned it was going to damage the model pulling it away (it didn't, fortunately). In terms of poise, the Spark looks a lot better, much lower to the ground, however that comes at the cost of the wheels being stuck in place and unable to rotate, whereas the Norev is able to be rolled on its wheels. Overall fairly equal though, if they both produced a version of the same car, I'd just go for whichever was cheaper.

PDS
18th December 2012, 17:54
pretty much what i'd thought.

although i must say i found the early norev cars to be better overall than the later models, build qaulity and even decal placement.

Is this new spark model resin or do you know if it is white metal?

Alfa Fan
19th December 2012, 03:14
I'm not sure, but given the models that advertise they are white metal are usually 3x the price, I'd guess its resin. Spark usually is.
