Of this year’s top 10 led laps drivers the win list is vastly different.
Jeff Gordon—4 wins
Jimmie Johnson—4 wins

Tony Stewart—1 win
Denny Hamlin—1 win
Martin Truex Jr—1 win
Matt Kenseth—1 win
Kevin Harvick—1 win

Kurt Busch—0 wins
Dale Jr—0 wins
Ryan Newman—0 wins

NOT a top 10 led laps driver but is a race winner nevertheless :
Jeff Burton—1 win
Carl Edwards—1 win
Kyle Busch—1 win
Jamie McMurray—1 win
Casey Mears—1 win
Juan Montoya—1 win

Some people may count laps lead but what really counts is the WIN list. http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/tongue-anim.gif

Stan, it is proven that leading laps doesn't count for much if you look at Tony Stewart this year....That said, laps lead over the year usually translates into a few wins and a place in the Chase. In this case, that list is pretty much accurate, except for Ryan Newman right now being on the outside and looking in....

The only lap led that counts is the last one.

Which reminds me, I think it is a crock that the driver that has the most points gets no advantage over the twelfth ranked driver when the final 10 races begin. The drivers will get 5 points for each win otherwise they all are even. What a bunch of B.S.

I think that this is pretty typical... I remember for a few years now that Stewart was the lap leader, and had few trips to victory lane.
