Just read this on NASCAR.com

The plane had Dr.Bruce Kennedy husband of Lesa France Kennedy and the head of NASCAR's air fleet. Thats according to the news at this time from NASCAR.

Wow, that's Lesa's father and husband in the span of a few weeks.

The NASCAR community has horrible luck with planes and helicopters.

I'm not sure it's bad luck. There's just so much air travel involved with Nascar now and as safe as flying is, still the law of averages catches up eventualy.

Apparently he didn't have much experience either so I'm sure that was a factor. Tragic.

There was also a very experienced pilot on board, and I don't think they've said who was at the controls yet. However when something mechanically goes wrong it doesn't always matter who's flying.

(Years ago when I was taking aviation ground school night classes, our instructor missed a class because he had crashed that afternoon. He showed up the next week still recovering from burns. Going up for an instrument test they lost an engine on takeoff with a similar type plane. He took over the controls, saying to himself "This plane will fly on one engine This plane will fly on one engine". It didn't and he put it down on northbound US 101 tearing off both wings putting them in a ring of burning fuel.)

BTW as I type this Fox News has video of the house on fire.

Yes, very sad, the ammount of tragedy that has followed NASCAR in the last decade.

:( It's worse than that. Five people have been killed due to the plane crash.

Two adults aboard the plane, and a woman and two children (a six month old boy & a four year old girl). The children's parents were seriously injured.

I feel more sorry for the families of the people that lived in those houses. And I sit here and wonder why they were flying from Daytona to Lakeland when it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive?
