Haven't been to an RAC since 85 (Yorkshire) Is it mandatory to buy spectator tickets for Rally GB or are there car parks / areas where spectators who are well organised and can read a 1:50,000 map can see the event without having to but a ticket?

Put it this way, you will notice the difference, and not for the better. If you know the area I suppose it might be possible, but from what I heard there are loads of road closures nearby the stages. I t might be a case of handing over a huge amount of money to stand in a sheep pen, and be told what to do. 1985 it ain't!!

Thanks for the p.o.v. Much as I feared - Back when it was a true GB rally you still got congestion in Wales, so how much worse must it be now that it's the only international on the mainland. Was deciding whether ryanair to Shannon and car hire to Enniskillen for Rally Ireland mighten be a better option
