I came across this pretty neat f1 simulator game online. Test your skills: http://www.rbssport.com/f1-grand-prix-challenge.html

My best lap is 1m 21.537s

At my age you want me to try an F1 simulator? You want me to have another heart attack? :(

Shouldn't it be showing on your screen once you are done with your laps?

It was 1:10 and somethings but I clicked to save it as I wanted to do some more rightaway! :(

I have the impression that they don't add any new times to their leaderboard. Strange.
I'll try again tomorrow when I have some time.

just tried the game again, and posted a best lap of 1m 06.367 but the time did not appear on the leaderboard. How strang, i hope this game isin't a gimmic.

0.52.509.... second attempt... I didn't feel comfortable with the car though

but they refuse my chance to shine... I thought it might my chance to get a f1 seat :)

akv89

It's been working fine with me, although I don't think it's possible for me to finish the three laps under 1:10 without some serious practice. I can still see my name on the leaderboard though.

1:02:9 on lap with bad start for the lap, the damn thing has too low fps for me to get a desent lap, i can't manage 15 frames per second show, it mucks up the corners. :)

I got rapidly got stuck in the 1:15-17secs area with regards my best laps, despite posting a 1:11sec time early on. :\ Addictive and convincing, though.

The time that is posted on your screen which is for all three laps. That's the time that is recorded on the leaderboard.

That's what it seems like at first, but you must realize that for every one second you improve on each lap, your total time improve by 3s. After a while I found new ways to go around he track that enable me to not lift off of the accelerator until the very last corner, although I can't always do it. So if you manage to do three laps in 25s, your total time would be 1:15. I was able to pull off one lap in the 25's but couldn't do it consistently. And then there are people who put in laps in around 22s, which is amazing.

itīs becoming an obsession... I canīt go below 0.26... so Iīll leave it there... Back to F1 Challenge

****, I personally was responding to akv89's first post about a "fastest lap" and was just assuming that was the format people were all responding in... I'm leaving this thread to go and save some face until the horrid, horrid truth emerges as to my incompetence. :|

Which won't take long.

You'll have to find the perfect line around the track. You can go around this track at top speed if you find the right trajectory. You'll just need lot's of time and a good connection, cause at low frame rates it's almost impossible to turn at the perfect moment.
That's all. Hope it helps you.

thanks a lot ioan, that really helped me, i do not think i will set another good time due to the fact that my computer is from the time before the car was invented. Hehe! :D :D :) :)

I don't know how others are doing it, but I hope this helps:
The chicanes at the beginning are pretty straightforward, you should be able to go through them at full throtte.
I stay close to the inside on the first long right hand corner, move slightly away in the middle, and turn back in towards the end of the corner. I haven't lifted off the throttle yet.
I gradually move to the right on the next straight and I turn left so that I hit the curb on the left turn. I haven't lifted off the throttle yet.
I try to do the same thing on the next right hander as I tried on the first right hander, but sometimes I have to lift off the throttle for a split second.
I go straight through the next chicane and I barely lift off the throttle before turning into the last right hand turn. :)

No, I'm just using arrow keys :) I still don't get how people are doing laps under 70 seconds though.

Mine must have been the 2005 car, because my car seemed to not have enough grip. I keep going off course every time I got off the corner. Oh, no, I am turning into Sebasiten Bourdais. I was also being blocked by Robert Doornbos.

ChickenMcNugget
5th July 2007, 23:03
Heh, well I can only explain away my own habit of remaining so consistently, pathetically slow despite not seeing an opponent in sight as being due to being blatantly blocked by a Renault-mounted Fernando Alonso an utter time zone ahead of me. :p

jens
6th July 2007, 18:22
I'm SO SLOW that it's even embarrasing to tell my time - so I won't. :p : I also didn't try for more than those 3 laps anyway.

7th July 2007, 06:05
are you all using the arrow keys to play this game? 'cos I can't do it. It's either flat out and into the grass or stopped. :dozey: :o

call_me_andrew
7th July 2007, 23:49
We're all using the arrow keys I think. I think it has more to do with some computers being faster than others.

Though I think the car could use a tad more front wing.
