Dropped my car (mk6 ford escort Si) into the garage at 8am today to have the rear brakes sorted out and RS2000 front brakes fitted. Ive heard nothing even though ive left a message on the answer phone! How long can it take to do these simple jobs?!

I want my car back!

You're lucky, trust me!

Left my Land Rover with a mate of fifteen years for a head gaskit fitting and he had it four days later still untouched. His garage is popular, but it meant me missing a week at market and losing my wages. His excuse? "I haven't got your phone number to let you know"

It's in six inch high numbers along the side of the vehicle :mark:

The job you describe would take me 2 to 3 hours to complete. If however there are a number of other vehicles waiting to be repaired which were brought in before your own or the garage is waiting for a parts delivery then it will take considerably longer. Simple as that really.

Last week I went to my son's workshop to show him how it's done and he was putting the finishing touches to a Mercedes emission control system.
At one point the Customer Liaison bod bowled over and asked "Will that be done by the end of the day Steve?"
My son looked at him for a moment and then shook his head resignedly "No chance boss" he said. "Still shedloads to do on this one"
"But I told the customer to collect it this evening" he whined.
Stevie just shrugged his shoulders and reinserted his head into the engine bay.
When I remarked that all he had left to do was refit the battery tray and battery he remarked "Yeah. That'll teach 'im to give me grief won't it?"
My heart filled with such pride that I thought it would burst from my chest :D

Hazel. That's priceless mate. I would have paid top dollar to see the expression on his boat when you told him about the signwriting on the Landie. :D

PS Your spelling of the word "gasket" is the most appalling I have ever seen. Go to your room and read The AA Book Of The Car twice...... Backwards

It wouldnt be so bad if id only booked the car the day before and parts had to be brought. Thing is it was booked two weeks ago, with all the parts ordered before I dropped it in early yesterday.

and another customer moves his business to some other company, which undoubtedly will have just as shoddy customer service. ;)

well I got the car back at midday on saturday. Apparently the 2nd hand calipers wernt to great n had to be stripped down n cleaned up before fitting. It just would have been nice to be told that id have to wait!

Saying that, the hand brake works now (lol) and the upgraded front brakes are a milion times better than old with alot less effort needed to stop!

No mate, the best part was when he bowled into the office ten minutes later, flung the keys on the bloke's desk and said "Don't say I never do anything for you"

Glad to hear you've got your anchors sorted at last.
All good things come to he who waits ;)
