Formula - X is an Online Role Playing Racing game that takes all the best elements of open wheel racing and puts them into one open wheel sport. Choose from being a Driver or Team Owner and get ready to compete against 12 other teams and 24 drivers. Formula X takes the skill elements of role playing and applies them to driver performance and combines it with the technical side of racing. Throw in the luck factor, which affects whether or not your equipment falls apart, and you have the 3 elements of what Formula X will be all about.
As a Team Owner start with 150 Mill and choose from 10 engine manufactures, 6 different tire suppliers, and 3 chassis, or create your own with a Wind Tunnel and an Aero Designer. Then sign two drivers and your ready to start your first Formula X season. As an owner you are responsible for sending in your team strategy to me prior to qualifying results. You can also role play as your owner character in order to save your self from 1 mechanical malfunction.
Mechanical Failures are determined by how you as an owner set up the equipment you bought. A random number generating program will decide your fate. So if you choose to run a dangerous amount of RPM's you run a higher risk of blowing your engine then if you were running a safe amount.
As a Driver the only thing you need to worry about is role playing a minimum of 1 time to a maximum of 2 times per week for each race and once for qualifying. For those of you who have never done a text based role playing game before, let me give you a little crash course on what role playing is.
What is Role Playing?
Role Playing is....
A form of interactive gaming where participants adopt and act out the role of characters , or parts, that may have personalities, motivations, and backgrounds different from their own. Roleplaying is like being in an improvisational drama or free-form theatre , in which the participants are the actors who are playing parts, and the audience .
People use the phrase "role-playing" in at least three distinct ways:
* to refer to the playing of roles generally such as in a theatre, or educational setting;
* to refer to a wide range of games including computer role-playing games , play-by-mail games and more;
* or to refer specifically to role-playing games .
On this site, you will play the role of your driver outside of race day and qualifying. The idea is write interesting stories of the characters life as a driver working with the team, practicing on the track, or just his life outside of racing and the life style he lives. It almost like directing a reality television show about that driver. You can choose to make the character aware of the camera or not aware, you have complete freedom over what happens in your role play. The only thing you cannot do is use another players driver in you role play without his or her handler's consent.
Why is Role Playing important to do once before qualifying and up to twice before race day?
Role playing directly effects how well your driver will perform in qualifying and in the race. Besides the information you filled in on you application everything else that I will learn about your character as a person and as a driver will come from you role plays.
How are role plays graded?
Role plays are graded in a 10 point system using six categories. Those categories are Charisma, Character Development, Knowledge of Formula X current events, Length, spelling, and Opponent Bashing.
This will be the ultimate online racing game, no 3D lagging races, and no costly fees. This is a fun, free environment where your imagination and writing skills can entertain you for hours on end. Qualifying results and Race results will be posted weekly in a text based form, presented in the way that live events are presented on Saturdays and Sundays. So now that you know a little about what this game is all about if your interested, head to the rules page, read those, and if you're ready to get started, fill out an application, either as a driver or a team owner and then post it in the correct forum. Happy racing!
