Today starts the 5th event of CIR 2007.

As all the rallys in Italy, Rally Del Salento will be for sure a nice event, the tarmac roads of Italy and the nice Italian Drivers use to be a nice show :)

For this rally the surprise is the participation of Umberto Scandola in order to prepare his debut in IRC 2007.

Let's see who wins this battle.. traditional GR N cars.. or S2000 :)

I put my money in a S2000... maybe Basso!

According to all anouncement, Basso is in a slight better position because of his BfGoodrich-they are better in warm conditions. Salento is in south of Italy, so the temperatures are going to be around 30 Celsius...Andreucci with Pirelli is still my favourite, but not forget also on Rossetti and Perico with P207 S2000.

Sandro Sottile (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9) won't take part at the rally.
After 2 retirement and one 8th place, he didn't start last rally and withdraw for this one.

Budget problems?

Rossetti won the 1st stage of today and now lead the rally with a small advantage over Basso..

Definitely Subarus this season aren't good :(

I suppose Longhi had problems.. but Aghini lost 13.9 sec. it's more than a second per km... really bad pace.

I don't know exactly what happened but it's confirmed that Longhi retired after today 1st stage :(

Well, it is reality about Impreza vs.Evo 9: already after first round of Italian champ. Longi &Aghini said, the gap on dry tarmac is from 0,5 to 1 sec /km in favourite for Evo 9. Only in wet conditions or gravel, suby can go as fast as Evo (see the results of gravel stages-San Marino or Raid Polski). Evo has much more torque than Impreza.

The next stages should be delayed because Gatti's accident. He rolled the car and and they call an ambulance.. but it's everything ok with the crew.

Seeing the standings after SS14 I think the podium is decided now, but until the end we will have a big fight between Aghini, Perico, Cantamessa and Gamba!
